Some of the things you'll learn in this book: How to turn the very technologies that are "killing" professional photography—such as the Internet—into your tools of success -How to lead your business, not let your business lead you -How systematizing, scaling, and outsourcing are critical concepts even for a one-person business -How to radically rethink marketing, sales, and customer service for the 21st century -How to hone a creative vision that works—the most powerful step you can take as a businessperson The Fast Track Photographer Business Plan is not about building a "traditional" business plan that looks good on paper and impresses investors. It's about creating a vibrant, living business plan that will help you thrive in today's digital "Wild West," where creative content is freely distributed, where no one plays by the rules anymore, and where customers have unprecedented freedom in choosing what to buy and whom to hire. It's a groundbreaking look at running a creative business. Whether you're an amateur looking to go pro or a professional whose business has stalled, Dane's practical, on-the-ground advice will launch you on the fast track to business success. Includes free access to Dane's online "stress test" to diagnose your business's strengths—as well as where it needs help!

The Constant Two Plan
Author: Jay Wendland
Publisher: Lexington Books
ISBN: 1666916250
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 211
Book Description
Since established by the Founding Fathers, the Electoral College was designated to be appoint the president to ensure that the voting process was anti-majoritarian in nature. However, with the advancements of technology allowing for a meaningful and engaged popular vote to ensure the U.S. is led by a president who received the most votes, the Founders concerns about the inability for the country to run a meaningful nationwide election are no longer relevant, leaving room for change. In The Constant Two Plan: Reforming the Electoral College to Account for the National Popular Vote, Jay Wendland explores a novel approach to reforming the Electoral College to allocate for two electoral votes per state alongside the votes from the American public in order to bring the American presidential election process more in line with democratic norms and principles. Wedland demonstrates that the major extant reform plans in place would perform worse than the existing system and a new idea is needed. The Constant Two Plan remedies the small state bias, ensuring the popular vote winner becomes president, and acknowledges the federalist principle many have come to associate with the Electoral College.

Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 301
Book Description
Diverse Practices, the third book in the Active Landscape Photography series, presents a set of unique photographic examples for site-specific investigations of landscape places. Landscape places discussed include the archeological landscapes of North Peru, watery littoral zones, the remote White Pass in Alaska, Sau Paulo and New York City’s Chinatown. Photographic image-making approaches include the use of lidar, repeat photography, collage, mapping, remote image capture, portraiture, image mining of internet sources, visual impact assessment, cameraless photography, transect walking and interviewing. These diverse practices demonstrate how photography, when utilized through a set of specific critical methods, becomes a rich process for investigating the landscape. Exploring this concept in relationship to specific contemporary sties and landscape issues reveals the intricacy and subtlety that exists when photography is used actively. Practitioners, academics, students and researchers will be inspired by the underlying concepts of these examples and come away with a better understanding about how to create their own rigorous photographic practices.

Struktruhr | Surface, form and colour
Author: Martin Janczek
Publisher: Broadpic
ISBN:
Category : Photography
Languages : en
Pages : 69
Book Description
Content: The nature of a region's exterior has an identity-forming effect on its inhabitants. In short, you are what surrounds you and, conversely, what surrounds you can be traced back to you. This applies in particular to urban areas, where the interactivity between people and their environment has a particularly dynamic quality. Starting from the outer shape of the Ruhr area, I attempted to visualise its inner essence with a camera. If I could succeed in getting closer to its identity, I could at the same time make the core of the people living here more comprehensible. I set out in search of the colouring and essence of the district, which I suspected to be in the construct of surface, form and colour - in the still life. Guided by its beauty and magic, I subjected myself to a feeling that I encountered when I looked at the land between the Ruhr and the Lippe. Photography for Architects
Author: Martine Hamilton Knight

Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 471
Book Description
***Shortlisted for the Architectural Book Awards 2024*** We live in a world driven by images, but with so much visual noise, is anyone really looking? How does an architect ensure their portfolio is within view of the right audience? Photographs are still as vital to architectural practice as they ever were. However, creation and circulation, once in the hands of skilled professionals, is now perceived as being ‘free’ and within easy reach of all. But where is the clarity? What is the message? By setting out the case for curated image making, considered photography may again be placed at the centre of architectural marketing strategies. Photography for Architects guides the reader through various topics: from establishing a visual brand and sharing images online, to producing content in-house and commissioning professionals. It explores the still and moving image, creating books and exhibitions for legacy value, compiling award entries, and engaging with trade press. Little understood aspects regarding legal rights and obligations, ethics, copyright, and licensing images for use are discussed in clear language. Multiple photographic examples and conversations with international practitioners highlight the various themes throughout. Written by a working architectural photographer whose life has been spent in commercial practice, this easy-to-read, richly illustrated guide is essential reading for architects and designers alike who are working with images and image makers.
