Parallel Systems And Algorithms: Pasa '96 - Proceedings Of The 4th Workshop

Parallel Systems And Algorithms: Pasa '96 - Proceedings Of The 4th Workshop PDF Author: Ernst W Mayr
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 981454647X
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 342

Book Description
The PASA Workshops aim to build a bridge between theory and practice in the area of parallel systems and algorithms. Practical problems which require theoretical investigations as well as the applicability of theoretical approaches and results to practice are discussed. A particularly important aspect is the communication and exchange of experiences between various groups working in various areas of parallel computing, e.g. computer science, electrical engineering, physics and mathematics. This volume discusses many aspects of parallel computing from a theoretical as well as a practice-oriented point of view. It shows that there are a number of promising approaches for the application of formal methods to the solution of practical problems in the area of parallel systems and algorithms.

ACRI ’96

ACRI ’96 PDF Author: S. Bandini
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1447109414
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 205

Book Description
ACRI'96 is the second conference on Cellular Automata for Research and Industry; the first one was held in Rende (Cosenza), on September 29-30, 1994. This second edition confirms the growing interest in Cellular Automata currently present both in the scientific community and within the industrial applications world. Cellular Automata-based computational models, besides capturing the attention of scientists working in different fields, open new perspectives of intersection between different and historically distant areas of scientific knowledge, from Physics to Biology, to Computer Science. ACRI'96 aims at providing a forum both for researchers working in the Cellular Automata field, and for those who foresee the possibility to verify on concrete domains of application the impact of their solutions, as well as for those who are looking for a possibility of reflection upon the specific concept of parallel and distributed computation provided by Cellular Automata. This book contains the works presented at the conference. The invited papers cover different aspects of Cellular Automata. T. Worsch gives a classification of Cellular Automata mapping on the existent computational frameworks for the simulation of their behavior. One of the most mature areas where Cellular Automata showed their value is Physics: B. Chopard illustrates recent results on wave modeling, and some possible applications. According to the general purpose of ACRI'96 of transfering research results to the industrial world, F.

Book Description
The Parcella series is a forum for displaying the landscape of research in East European countries and is also a meeting place for exchanging ideas and initiating steps towards a future of broad scoped East-West co-operation in a unified Europe. Advanced supercomputing and the obtained software technology are of great importance for the East-West technological co-operation. It includes applications like energy and raw material resources planning and exploration modelling, material research (special metals, ceramics, semiconductors) and industrial supercomputing. These proceedings contain several recent research results on the topics of mathematical foundations of parallel computing, languages, programming, theory of algorithms, data flow, design of architectures and systems, memory and memory access, interconnection networks, routing, image processing and modelling, computational geometry, computer graphics, graphalgorithms, fault-tolerant computing, neurocomputing and connectionism, optical computing, scientific computation, applications in biology, physics, engineering, manufacturing systems, program packages and problem solving environments supporting scientific computations.

High Performance Computing

High Performance Computing PDF Author: Mateo Valero

Book Description
I wish to welcome all of you to the International Symposium on High Perf- mance Computing 2000 (ISHPC 2000) in the megalopolis of Tokyo. After having two great successes with ISHPC’97 (Fukuoka, November 1997) and ISHPC’99 (Kyoto, May 1999), many people have requested that the symposium would be held in the capital of Japan and we have agreed. I am very pleased to serve as Conference Chair at a time when high p- formance computing (HPC) has a signi?cant in?uence on computer science and technology. In particular, HPC has had and will continue to have a signi?cant - pact on the advanced technologies of the “IT” revolution. The many conferences and symposiums that are held on the subject around the world are an indication of the importance of this area and the interest of the research community. One of the goals of this symposium is to provide a forum for the discussion of all aspects of HPC (from system architecture to real applications) in a more informal and personal fashion. Today we are delighted to have this symposium, which includes excellent invited talks, tutorials and workshops, as well as high quality technical papers.

Complex Interval Arithmetic and Its Applications

Complex Interval Arithmetic and Its Applications PDF Author: Miodrag Petković
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 9783527401345
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 296

Book Description
The aim of this book is to present formulas and methods developed using complex interval arithmetic. While most of numerical methods described in the literature deal with real intervals and real vectors, there is no systematic study of methods in complex interval arithmetic. The book fills this gap. Several main subjects are considered: outer estimates for the range of complex functions, especially complex centered forms, the best approximations of elementary complex functions by disks, iterative methods for the inclusion by polynomial zeros including their implementation on parallel computers, the analysis of numerical stability of iterative methods by using complex interval arithmetic and numerical computation of curvilinear integrals with error bounds. Mainly new methods are presented developed over the last years, including a lot of very recent results by the authors some of which have not been published before.
