Publisher: Academic Guru Publishing House
ISBN: 8196873840
Category : Study Aids
Languages : en
Pages : 75

Book Description
Research Methodologies in Multidisciplinary Subjects In a multidisciplinary approach, experts from different fields work together to solve an issue, drawing on their own areas of expertise to provide comprehensive solutions that are neither isolated nor biased which is presented in this handbook. You may know that law and public health face ever-changing difficulties that need fresh viewpoints from many disciplines. On the other hand, in reality, experts often fall back on tried-and-true methods from their respective fields when faced with a challenge. In order to answer research questions more thoroughly than with only one method, the mixed methods approach combines quantitative and qualitative techniques. The contemporaneous and coordinated design may compensate for the shortcomings of any technique, which is a major benefit of using a mixed methods approach. While quantitative studies could not provide enough information to fully grasp a phenomenon's setting, qualitative studies conducted in isolation might introduce bias and fail to provide applicable results. Hence, a multidisciplinary approach is required for the scientific examination of several concerns. The knowledge, experience, and perspective of professionals from different domains are pooled in a multidisciplinary approach. The book give clarity about use of interdisciplinary research methods in addressing societal challenges and several other methods. In a nutshell, this kind of study allows the investigator to have a comprehensive grasp of the issue at hand. Through the integration of diverse ideas from many academic and scientific disciplines, researchers have the opportunity to generate fresh insights and even uncover unexplored areas of knowledge.

The Mediterranean Sea in the Era of Global Change 1

The Mediterranean Sea in the Era of Global Change 1 PDF Author: Christophe Migon
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1119706947
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 244

Book Description
Due to its particular characteristics, the Mediterranean Sea is often viewed as a microcosm of the World Ocean. Its proportionally-reduced dimensions and peculiar hydrological circulation render it susceptible to environmental and climatic constraints, which are rapidly evolving. The Mediterranean is therefore an ideal site to examine, in order to better understand a number of key oceanographic phenomena. This is especially true of the Ligurian Sea where, due to its geology, oceanic conditions are found close to the coast. As such, 30 years ago, an offshore time-series site provided a fresh impetus to a long history of marine biology research, which has generated a very important body of data and knowledge. This is the first volume, in a two-volume series, that summarizes this research. Across these two books, the reader will find 13 chapters that examine the geology, physics, chemistry and biology of the Ligurian Sea ? always with the goal of providing key elements of oceanography in a changing world.

Knowledge and Change in African Universities

Knowledge and Change in African Universities PDF Author: Michael Cross
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 946300842X
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 233

Book Description
Besides the ongoing concern with the epistemological and theoretical hegemony of the West in African academic practice, the book aims at understanding how knowledge is produced and controlled through the interplay of the politics of knowledge and current intellectual discourses in universities in Africa. In this regard, the book calls for African universities to relocate from the position of object to subject in order to gain a form of liberated epistemological voice more responsive to the social and economic complexities of the continent. In itself, this is a critical exposé of contemporary practices in knowledge advancement in the continent. Broadly the book addresses the following questions: How can African universities reinvent knowledge production and dissemination in the face of the dominant Eurocentricism so pervasive and characteristic of academic practice in Africa to enhance their relevance to the contexts in which they operate? How can such change, particularly at knowledge production and distribution levels, be undertaken, without falling into an intellectual and discursive ghettoization in the global context? What then is the role of academics, policy makers and curriculum and program designers in dealing with biases and distortions to integrate policies, knowledge and pedagogy that reflect current cultural diversity, both local and global? Against this backdrop, while some contributions in this book argue that emancipatory epistemic voice in African universities is not yet born, or it is struggling with little success, many dissenting voices charge that if Africans do not take responsibility and construct knowledge strategies for their own emancipation, who will?
