Author Vera Murrell-Isom comes from what is called humble beginnings of a working-class family, with parents who had elementary level education, worked as migrant farm workers, and were true believers of the Word of God. Her parents instilled in their seven children the essence of higher education, being hard workers to be somebody, and faith in God. as their third oldest child and oldest daughter of seven siblings, she has given the name of her maternal grandmother, Vera Mortimer, (her grandfather was Harry Mortimer).
