Book Description
The Democratic Labor Party (DLP) fulfilled an important role in Australian political history. Unfortunately the nature of the DLP's contribution is generally misunderstood, as were the circumstances that gave rise to the party and what its actual purpose was. Far from being the anti-union and narrow-minded reactionary party that it has been unfairly caricatured as, the DLP in fact operated according to social democratic principles which enabled it to make a positive and constructive contribution to Australian public policy in the period of its existence between 1955 and 1978. The DLP's historic roots went back to the Labor Party and the Australian union movement and the party's viability in part depended upon the principled support and commitment that it received from its membership.

The Russian Social-Democratic Labour Party, 1899‒1904
Author: Richard Mullin
Publisher: BRILL
ISBN: 9004272143
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 619
Book Description
Much has been written about the activity of Lenin and his colleagues on the editorial board of the Iskra newspaper, whereas little has been said about the opponents of Leninism, who unsuccessfully fought for control of the Russian Social-Democratic Labour Party during the Iskra period. To redress the balance, Richard Mullin has translated 25 documents from this period, most of which express an anti-Lenin view. They include articles from Rabochee Delo, the Jewish Bund's Poslednie Izvestiia and the post-Lenin Iskra, pamphlets by Plekhanov and Martov, the resolutions of Party meetings and some very revealing private correspondence. However, the result is not an anti-Bolshevik polemic: through these documents a clearer, and curiously flattering picture of Lenin's thought and activity is obtained.

The Federalist Papers
Author: Alexander Hamilton
Publisher: Read Books Ltd
ISBN: 1528785878
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 420
Book Description
Classic Books Library presents this brand new edition of “The Federalist Papers”, a collection of separate essays and articles compiled in 1788 by Alexander Hamilton. Following the United States Declaration of Independence in 1776, the governing doctrines and policies of the States lacked cohesion. “The Federalist”, as it was previously known, was constructed by American statesman Alexander Hamilton, and was intended to catalyse the ratification of the United States Constitution. Hamilton recruited fellow statesmen James Madison Jr., and John Jay to write papers for the compendium, and the three are known as some of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Alexander Hamilton (c. 1755–1804) was an American lawyer, journalist and highly influential government official. He also served as a Senior Officer in the Army between 1799-1800 and founded the Federalist Party, the system that governed the nation’s finances. His contributions to the Constitution and leadership made a significant and lasting impact on the early development of the nation of the United States.
