Book Description
The use of a hydromagnetically driven vortex as a means of separating fuel from propellant in a gaseous nuclear rocket is examined for configurations of practical interest. Theoretical limitations are given on the radial mass flow rate for steady flow. The simultaneous compatible conditions of electric power, magnetic field strength, fuel-propellant composition (Uranium 235 as fuel and Hydrogen as propellant) and inlet composition are determined for steady separation in a critical system. Transprt properties are estimated at 1 ev using kinetic theory. Reactor power requirements and thrust produced by several systems are determined. (Author).

MHD Enhanced Vortex Containment Concept for a Gas Core Nuclear Rocket
Gas-Core Nuclear Rocket Design
Author: David Hitchcock
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1435750322
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 122
Book Description
Originally written in 1989, this book (Master's Thesis) reviews the state of the art in Gas-Core Nuclear Rocket design at the time of program termination in the 1970's, with updates for research performed during the 1980's. Major design problems are addressed and a proposal for an optimum design is included. This book may be especially appealing when one considers NASA's renewed mission to pioneer the future in space exploration.

Book Description
NSA is a comprehensive collection of international nuclear science and technology literature for the period 1948 through 1976, pre-dating the prestigious INIS database, which began in 1970. NSA existed as a printed product (Volumes 1-33) initially, created by DOE's predecessor, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). NSA includes citations to scientific and technical reports from the AEC, the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration and its contractors, plus other agencies and international organizations, universities, and industrial and research organizations. References to books, conference proceedings, papers, patents, dissertations, engineering drawings, and journal articles from worldwide sources are also included. Abstracts and full text are provided if available.
