The volume provides applications to current and future space missions and dynamical astronomy.

New Trends in Astrodynamics and Applications

New Trends in Astrodynamics and Applications PDF Author: Edward Belbruno
Publisher: Wiley-Blackwell
ISBN: 9781573316316
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 352

Book Description
Recent advances in the research of advanced astrodynamics and its applications have created an unprecedented interest in the space community worldwide. Mathematical dynamics-based theory and powerful numerical simulations have been fused to develop orbits and mission design concepts for past, current, and future space missions This volume bridges the gap between theoretical and applied astrodynamics by bringing together reports from prominent mathematicians, scientists, and engineers that discuss recent advances in the field. It is hoped that this volume will help to create an environment dedicated to cooperation and the sharing of knowledge within this community over the long term. The conference for which this volume is the proceedings was truly international, bringing together scientists from China, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain, and the United States. Practical Astrodynamics

Practical Astrodynamics PDF Author: Alessandro de Iaco Veris
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 331962220X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 1320

Book Description
This modern textbook guides the reader through the theory and practice of the motion and attitude control of space vehicles. It first presents the fundamental principles of spaceflight mechanics and then addresses more complex concepts and applications of perturbation theory, orbit determination and refinement, space propulsion, orbital maneuvers, interplanetary trajectories, gyroscope dynamics, attitude control, and rocket performance. Many algorithms used in the modern practice of trajectory computation are also provided. The numerical treatment of the equations of motion, the related methods, and the tables needed to use them receive particular emphasis. A large collection of bibliographical references (including books, articles, and items from the "gray literature") is provided at the end of each chapter, and attention is drawn to many internet resources available to the reader. The book will be of particular value to undergraduate and graduate students in aerospace engineering.

New Trends in Nonlinear Dynamics and Control, and their Applications

New Trends in Nonlinear Dynamics and Control, and their Applications PDF Author: Wei Kang
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9783540404743
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 384

Book Description
A selection of papers exploring a wide spectrum of new trends in nonlinear dynamics and control, such as bifurcation control, state estimation and reconstruction, analysis of behavior and stabilities, dynamics of nonlinear neural network models, and numerical algorithms. The papers focus on new ideas and the latest developments in both theoretical and applied research topics of nonlinear control. Because many of the authors are leading researchers in their own fields, the papers presented in this volume reflect the state of the art in the areas of nonlinear dynamics and control. Many of the papers in this volume were first presented at the highly succesful ''Symposium on New Trends in Nonlinear Dynamics and Control, and Their Applications,'' held October 18-19, 2002, in Monterey, California.

Tutorials on Emerging Methodologies and Applications in Operations Research

Tutorials on Emerging Methodologies and Applications in Operations Research PDF Author: Harvey J. Greenberg
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0387228276
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 353

Book Description
This volume reflects the theme of the INFORMS 2004 Meeting in Denver: Back to OR Roots. Emerging as a quantitative approach to problem-solving in World War II, our founders were physicists, mathematicians, and engineers who quickly found peace-time uses. It is fair to say that Operations Research (OR) was born in the same incubator as computer science, and it has spawned many new disciplines, such as systems engineering, health care management, and transportation science. Although people from many disciplines routinely use OR methods, many scientific researchers, engineers, and others do not understand basic OR tools and how they can help them. Disciplines ranging from finance to bioengineering are the beneficiaries of what we do — we take an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving. Our strengths are modeling, analysis, and algorithm design. We provide a quanti- tive foundation for a broad spectrum of problems, from economics to medicine, from environmental control to sports, from e-commerce to computational - ometry. We are both producers and consumers because the mainstream of OR is in the interfaces. As part of this effort to recognize and extend OR roots in future probl- solving, we organized a set of tutorials designed for people who heard of the topic and want to decide whether to learn it. The 90 minutes was spent addre- ing the questions: What is this about, in a nutshell? Why is it important? Where can I learn more? In total, we had 14 tutorials, and eight of them are published here.

Spacecraft Trajectory Optimization

Spacecraft Trajectory Optimization PDF Author: Bruce A. Conway
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 113949077X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 313

Book Description
This is a long-overdue volume dedicated to space trajectory optimization. Interest in the subject has grown, as space missions of increasing levels of sophistication, complexity, and scientific return - hardly imaginable in the 1960s - have been designed and flown. Although the basic tools of optimization theory remain an accepted canon, there has been a revolution in the manner in which they are applied and in the development of numerical optimization. This volume purposely includes a variety of both analytical and numerical approaches to trajectory optimization. The choice of authors has been guided by the editor's intention to assemble the most expert and active researchers in the various specialities presented. The authors were given considerable freedom to choose their subjects, and although this may yield a somewhat eclectic volume, it also yields chapters written with palpable enthusiasm and relevance to contemporary problems.
