ISBN: 1465395814
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 723

Book Description
The Mortal Jigsaw puzzle follows the struggles of a heroic urban vice principal, as he attempts to control a large high school teetering on the verge of chaos. During the course of an infamous day known as Fat Lip Friday, the ghetto principal tries valiantly to keep control of his school in the midst of a full blown gang war. Immersed in an environment replete with urban music, violence, verbiage, and dress, the reader is bombarded with shocking images of life in the modern hood. As the visceral educational conflagration unfolds, the protagonist, Jose Perez, unexpectedly catches glimpses of a diabolical conspiracy of which street gangs are just a small part. Thanks to his keen senses, Mr. Perez slowly collects the pieces to a profoundly disturbing global puzzle comprised of codes, lyrics, art, and symbols of Egyptian, Masonic, and satanic origin. While attempting to place the gratuitous carnage and depravity of the inner city into perspective, Mr. Perez accidentally stumbles upon an interdisciplinary mind control plan which draws upon religion, politics, economics, psychology, marketing, history, and the occult. Alarmed by his findings, Mr. Perez warns his community of their pending doom, only to be hunted down by the very debt cattle whom he tries to save from oblivion. In the end, both his community and his nation are condemned to fall under this nefarious plot, as this educators quixotic mission abruptly ends with an ominous knock on his front door.

Visual Culture Revisited

Visual Culture Revisited PDF Author: Ralf Adelmann
Publisher: Herbert von Halem Verlag
ISBN: 3869621737
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 314

Book Description
Is there one visual culture or are there multiple visual cultures? On the one hand, it is obvious that images do not exist and cannot be understood independently. Rather, they are embedded in institutions and cultural contexts. This common ground suggests an understanding of visual culture as a singular phenomenon. On the other hand the plurality of pictorial representations - from Sitcoms to illustrations in childrens' books, from cartoons to satellite photos, from high art to everyday life - suggests the conception of visual culture as a singular phenomenon to be misleading. The visual world is a field of conflict and tension between self and other, mainstream and counterculture. The articles in this book include both theoretical reflections on the dialectics of visual culture(s) as well as case studies. The focus lies on examples from the U.S. American context - from the focusing on Native Americans as the 'Vanishing Race' in the 19th-century Photography to the TV coverage of the Columbia Space Shuttle Disaster in February, 2003. This book is therefore highly recommendable to both students and scholars of American Studies als well as those interested in the interdisciplinary debate on visual culture(s).

The Historic King Arthur

The Historic King Arthur PDF Author: Frank D. Reno
Publisher: McFarland
ISBN: 9780786402663
Category : Reference
Languages : en
Pages : 472

Book Description
Who was King Arthur? How did the story originate? Through careful research of the many primary documents, a picture of the true Arthur can in fact be set down. He reached power shortly after the Romans evacuated Britain at the end of the fifth century and died at the Battle of Camlann. He became king at 15 under the name of Ambrosius Aurelianus and fought against the Saxons on the mainland as Riothamus, thus explaining the regeneration motif so closely tied to the mythical Arthur. This study reveals that the integrity and ideals central to Arthurian myth were very much a part of the real Arthur.

One Thousand Years

One Thousand Years PDF Author: David Coleman
Publisher: WestBow Press
ISBN: 1973679353
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 138

Book Description
Imagine Jesus ruling over a kingdom that encompasses the entire planet with no one denying that Christ is God. Perfect justice will prevail throughout the world, and any rebellion will draw quick retribution. Righteousness will triumph over evil everywhere, and God’s glory will extend from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. The greatest thing about the above scenario is that it is true! Yet, because many sermons and Bible studies on prophetic subjects tend to focus upon darker events foretold in Scripture, most believers know little about it. Handed pen and paper, many believers could probably write out relatively well-informed descriptions of end-time topics such as the Tribulation, the Antichrist, and the Battle of Armageddon, but ask them to describe the Millennium and many would respond with a blank stare. If that describes you, this book will fill you in on the bright future that awaits you. One Thousand Years provides an overview of Christ’s glorious earthly kingdom and explains why its literal fulfillment is guaranteed in Scripture.

now and then 2

now and then 2 PDF Author: Bob Maddison
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1300165464
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 550

Book Description
Lost civilizations? Origins of mankind? Why does mankind seem to need religion? Why is there so much confusion and mental indigestion manifest among not only rank and file mankind, but also actively demonstrated by the "academics"? After all, does it really matter who built the pyramids of Egypt? Or when they were built? Does it matter that there are so many confusing and conflicting claims by the proponents of the many religions? So who, or what, is "god"? Is it Jehovah, Allah, Krishna, or Enlil? Or perchance it is a fiction. And what does it matter or avail if we understand the true origins of man or not? If we cannot correctly understand who and what mankind is, how can we ever know and understand what angels, demons, gods, God, or aliens are? Is it that we are the aliens and this was not our earth?
