"Biological response is characterized by variation: different organisms do not react in exactly the same way to identical situations; nor do individual organisms, on different occasions. Such lack of uniformity of response causes many difficulties in the interpretation of biological data. This has resulted in the development, in recent years, of special techniques for obtaining and analyzing experimental results.
