Book Description
This volume 8 is the fourth in a series dealing with organomolybdenum compounds. An Empirical Formula Index and a Ligand Formula Index provide ready access to the compounds covered. Volume 5 describes mononuclear organomolybdenum compounds with isocyanide, 3 4 carbene, carbyne, alkynyl, alkene, alkyne, L, and L ligands with and without additional CO groups. Volume 6 starts the description of mononuclear organomolybdenum compounds with 5 one L Ligand, a Ligand bonded to molybdenum by five carbon atoms. The compounds contain either zero or one CO group bonded to the molybdenum atom. Volume 7 continues the 5 description of L-molybdenum compounds containing two CO groups, but no additional nl 5 ligands. This volume describes L-molybdenum compounds with two CO groups and additional 1 4 L to L ligands. Following the nomenclature used in this series of organomolybdenum com pounds, nl is an organic Ligand bonded by n C atoms to molybdenum, and mo is an electron 2 donor Ligand with m donor electrons. Thus 0 denotes a Ligand such as PR . 3 Many of the data, particular those in tables, are given in an abbreviated form without units; for explanations see p. X. Additional information, if necessary, is given before the individual table. Frankfurt am Main Manfred Winter November 1992 Wolfgang Petz X Remarks on Abbreviations and Dimensions Many compounds in this volume are presented in tables in which numerous abbreviations are used, the dimensions are omitted for the sake of conciseness. This necessitates the following clarifications.

Book Description
This volume deals with mononuclear organomolybdenum compounds with organic ligands bonded by one to four carbon atoms to molybdenum with and without additional CO groups. These compounds can contain neutral donor ligands (e.g. amines, phosphanes, or nitriles) or ionic ligands (e.g. halides or pyrazolyl derivatives). The combination of these ligands leads to a great number of different types of compounds. The first sections describe compounds with isocyanide, carbene, carbyne, and acetylide ligands, e.g. compounds of the types (CO3)Mo(CNR)N2C10H8, RC(O)C(R')=MO(CO)5, RChMo(CO)4X, or K3 Ä(RChC)3Mo(CO=)3Ü. The following sections deal with compounds having alkene, alkyne, and allyl derivatives as ligands. The volume concludes with a description of compounds with ligands forming four Mo-C bonds. Most of these ligands are dienes. Compounds with trimethylene methane ligands, e.g. (CH2)3CMo(CO)4, are included. Among the many types of reactions described displacement of the diene ligand is the most common one. In particular, the norbarnadiene complex, C7H8Mo(CO)4, is the most widely used for the preparation of tetracarbonylmolybdenum compounds. An empirical formula and ligand index completes the volume.

Book Description
The volume contains all available information on mononuclear organomolybdenum compounds with one 6L ligand, an additional nD electron donor, and up to three 1L ligands. The main part of the volume deals with the numerous complexes where 6L is benzene or a substituted benzene. The properties, including the spectroscopy, and the reactivity of these complexes are described in detail. A large number of compounds is known where the Mo(CO)3 moiety is bonded to 6L ligands such as cycloheptatriene, cyclooctatriene, cyclooctatetraene, higher carbocycles, or more or less complicated polycyclic carbocycles. C7H8Mo(CO)3 is a versatile starting material for the synthesis of a considerable number of Mo complexes, and these reactions are summarized.

Book Description
This volume completes the description of compounds with one 5LMo(CO)2 fragment (where 5L is a ligand bonded to molybdenum by five carbon atoms) and specifically deals with heteronuclear compounds containing one 5LMo(CO)2 fragment (5L being mostly C5H5) and one or more other transition metal fragment. These include many heterotrinuclear compounds with one MoM2 or MoMM' triangle capped by one CR or ERn group, thereby forming a tetrahedron. Many of the heteronuclear compounds were characterized by their molecular strucuture. The second part of the volume begins with a description of compounds containing one 5LMo(CO)3 fragment and is dominated by complexes containing the cyclopentadienyl ring or dienyl systems derived therefrom by substitution. The compounds described in this volume include the C5H5Mo(CO)3 + cation and its derivatives: its weakly solvated forms and C5H5Mo(CO)3X (X is a weakly coordinated anion); the radical C5H5Mo(CO)3., the anion C5H5Mo(CO)3 - with various counterions, and the hydride C5H5Mo(CO)3H. There is a considerable interest in synthetic applications of 5H5Mo(CO)3 + (and its sources), C5H5Mo(CO)3 -, and C5H5Mo(CO)3H. The literature up to the end of 1992 was considered.

Book Description
The C5H5Mo(CO)3 unit is among the most ubiquitous fragments in organometallic chemistry. The present volume first describes neutal compounds of the type C5H5Mo(CO)31L (1L = alkyl, vinyl, aryl, and alkynyl) and the C5H5Mo(CO)3=CR2 + cations. Many of the C5H5Mo(CO)31L compounds are important precursors in organometallic synthesis. Typical reactions are the insertion of electrophiles into the Mo-1L bond, e.g., the insertion of SO2 with the formation of sulfinato derivatives. The kind of products formed in substitution reactions of the CO groups by nucleophiles depends strongly on the 1L ligand. The second part of the volume deals with compounds with one 5LMo(CO)3 fragment (5L is a general organic ligand bonded by five carbon atoms to the metal, e.g., substituted cyclopentadienyl or open-chain pentadienyl derivatives).
