The cry of hard times which has filled the land may lead some to withhold their needed aid. Let our brethren remember that what ever betides our country or ourselves the Lord's work must go forward. Contributions have not been sufficient to enable the Board to pay the salaries of our missionaries, and they need the meager sums they have been promised to procure the necessities of life. Our people have not been idle. The Baptists of the State saw the need of meeting this new order of things seventeen years ago, and organized the State Board of Missions. Their success during this period has been very gratifying. With the exception of the first two or three years of its history the Board has received upon an average of something like a year to carry forward its work. During the last conventional year the receipts were more than for all purposes. The amount Of work done can best be seen from the report of the See rotary to the last meeting of the State Convention, from which we get these interesting figures.
