La microéconomie du tourisme

La microéconomie du tourisme PDF Author: Si Mohamed Ben Massou
Publisher: El Watanya
ISBN: 9789920414166
Category :
Languages : fr
Pages : 0

Book Description

Pages : 509

Book Description
In order to explore the relationship between risk and tourist behaviour, two types of analysis were followed. From the one hand, an empirical analysis of the impact of many external and internal negative events on the international tourist demand to Egypt. The findings of that analysis revealed that there was a visible relationship between risk factor and consumer behaviour in tourism. In addition, this study also revealed the importance of tourist crisis management by the Egyptian authorities to restore the confidence of international tourists. From the other hand, a quantitative analysis where two surveys were conducted to serve the purpose of the study. The first survey was distributed in Egypt between a sample of French tourists. The results of the probit model revealed that the individuals’ characteristics have relatively weak effects on the probability of returning to Egypt. As a whole, the characteristics of travel have an effect on the probability of returning to Egypt in the future. Lastly, the levels of satisfaction concerning the quality “reception” of the trip, the level of safety have an effect on the decision of travel to Egypt in the future. The second survey was conducted in the Department of Charente-Maritime in France. The models logistic ordinal and probit revealed a significant relationship between socio-demographic variables, international experience of travel and French tourist behaviours en period of crises. The more the probability of cancelling travel to Egypt is, the more the probability of not modifying this decision following a reduction in the prices is strong. The lower the income is, the more the probability to modify his behaviour is high.

The Economics of Tourism Destinations

The Economics of Tourism Destinations PDF Author: Guido Candela
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642208746
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 626

Book Description
The book aims at providing an overview of the main economic issues related to tourism activities. While tourism is an important sector, contributing to more than 10% of the European Union’s GDP, research and teaching at the university level has only recently grown to a considerable level, and the field still lacks a firm research methodology. This book approaches tourism economics as an applied field of study in which tourism markets are represented as imperfect markets, with asymmetric and incomplete information among agents, bounded rationality, and with a strong presence of externalities and public goods. The economic issues studied in the book are approached both intuitively, largely using examples and case studies, and formally, with mathematical formalizations in text boxes.

Polar Tourism

Polar Tourism PDF Author: Alain A. Grenier
Publisher: PUQ
ISBN: 2760533239
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 491

Book Description
The creation of the Nunavik is a major step forward, both for the Province of Quebec and its Inuit population. Not only does it underline the recognition of the Inuit people and their identity but it also stresses the importance of discussing some fundamental issues regarding the emancipation of the Inuit, their empowerment, the development and management of the northern resources of Quebec, and the protection and conservation of the fragile Nordic ecosystems. Rich in culture and scenery, Nunavik has identified tourism as one of the main and best suited avenue for economic development. But before Nunavik can truly enjoy the benefits of a well established tourism “industry”, many challenges need to be met. The development of tourism in a new destination is not only challenging but it requires human efforts, political and economic will over a large amount of time without much guaranties as to what will work or not.It is in this context that in August 2008, the members of the newly created International Polar Tourism Research Network (IPTRN) came to Kangiqsujjuak, Nunavik, to discuss how tourism can play a role in regional development. The collection of articles presented here is the result of the coming together of a group of polar tourism researchers from around the world, who met in Nunavik - the northernmost part of Quebec, to discuss polar tourism as a tool for regional development. Such a book does not claim to address all issues facing the polar destinations. It is nevertheless a base for reflection. Many of the new emerging regions of the circumpolar world, like the Nunavik, are experimenting with new powers and responsibilities. For scientists, this is an excellent time to assist with the experiences that have been well documented from other Northern, Arctic and polar regions. For tourism, this book is meant to offer a range of perspectives on how challenges can be met and how solutions can be implemented for the benefit of all local interests.
