Book Description
We present a measurement of the branching fraction and photon energy spectrum for the decay B → X{sub s}[gamma] using data from the BABAR experiment. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 210 fb−1, from which approximately 680,000 B{bar B} events are tagged by a fully reconstructed hadronic decay of one of the B mesons. In the decay of the second B meson, an isolated high-energy photon is identified. We measure [Beta](B → X{sub s}[gamma]) = (3.66 ± 0.85{sub stat} ± 0.60{sub syst}) x 10−4 for photon energies E{sub {gamma}} above 1.9 GeV in the B rest frame. From the measured spectrum we calculate the first and second moments for different minimum photon energies, which are used to extract the heavy-quark parameters m{sub b} and [mu]{sub {pi}}2. In addition, measurements of the direct CP asymmetry and isospin asymmetry are presented.

Book Description
Using 88.9 million B{bar B} events collected by the BABAR detector at the?(4S), they measure the branching fraction for the radiative penguin process B → X{sub s}? from the sum of 38 exclusive final states. The inclusive branching fraction above a minimum photon energy E{sub?}> 1.9 GeV is?(b → s?) = (3.27 ± 0.18(stat.){sub -0.40}{sup +0.55}(syst.){sub -0.09}{sup +0.04}(theory)) x 10−4. They also measure the isospin asymmetry between B− → X{sub s{bar u}}? and {bar B}° → X{sub sd}{gamma} to be?0 = -0.006 ± 0.058(stat.) ± 0.009(syst.) ± 0.024({bar B}°/B−). The photon energy spectrum is measured in the B rest frame, from which moments are derived for different values of the minimum photon energy. They present fits to the photon spectrum and moments which give the heavy-quark parameters m{sub b} and?{sub {pi}}2. The fitted parameters are consistent with those obtained from semileptonic B → X{sub c}l? decays, and are useful inputs for the extraction of.

Book Description
The authors present measurements of the B {yields} {eta}K{gamma} branching fractions and upper limits for the B {yields} {eta}'K{gamma} branching fractions. For B{sup +} {yields} {eta}K{sup +}{gamma} they also measure the time-integrated charge asymmetry. The data sample, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, represents 232 x 10{sup 6} produced B{bar B} pairs. The results for branching fractions and upper limits at 90% C.L. in units of 10{sup -6} are: {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {eta}K{sup 0}{gamma}) = 11.3{sub -2.6}{sup +2.8} {+-} 0.6, {Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} {eta}K{sup +}{gamma}) = 10.0 {+-} 1.3 {+-} 0.5, {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} {eta}'K{sup 0}{gamma})

Book Description
The branching fractions of the decays B[sup 0] [yields] K*[sup 0][gamma] and B[sup +] [yields] K*[sup +][gamma] are measured using a sample of 88 x 10[sup 6] B[bar B] events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e[sup +]e[sup -] collider. They find [Beta](B[sup 0] [yields] K*[sup 0][gamma]) = (3.92 [+-] 0.20(stat.) [+-] 0.24(syst.)) x 10[sup -5], [Beta] (B[sup +] [yields] K*[sup +][gamma]) = (3.87 [+-] 0.28(stat.) [+-] 0.26(syst.)) x 10[sup -5]. The measurements also constrain the direct CP asymmetry to be -0.074

Book Description
We use 429 fb−1 of ee− collision data collected at the?(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector to measure the radiative transition rate of b → s? with a sum of 38 exclusive final states. The inclusive branching fraction with a minimum photon energy of 1.9 GeV is found to be?({bar B} → Xs?) = (3.29 ± 0.19 ± 0.48) x 10−4 where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. We also measure the first and second moments of the photon energy spectrum and extract the best fit values for the heavy-quark parameters, m{sub b} and?{sub {pi}}2, in the kinetic and shape function models.

Book Description
Observational evidence and theoretical motivation have led us to the conclusion that our current understanding of the universe is incomplete. While new physics is expected to exist above the electroweak scale, its influence can be detected by experiments that operate below this scale. The Babar experiment has recorded approximately 432 fb-1 of data at the center of mass energy of 10.58 GeV, which corresponds to the Y(4S) mass. One of the physics programs is studying radiative decays of the B meson. These decays primarily proceed through loop diagrams, and thus influences of new particles may be detectable. In this thesis, I present results of the measurements of the branching fractions, CP asymmetry, and isospin asymmetry of B -> K* gamma. Results are also presented for the measurements of the branching fractions of B -> rho(omega) gamma. Finally, a search for the decay of B -> phi gamma is given.

Book Description
The b [yields] s[gamma] decay represents a possible electromagnetic ''loop'' penguin decay of the B meson. This FCNC process is of high theoretical interest because various scenarios of new physics are expected to have contributions at the same (one loop) level as the Standard Model. The large sample of B[bar B] meson decays collected by the BaBar experiment makes a precision measurement of this rare decay possible. In conjunction with Standard Model predictions at the 10% level, it brings new physics effects into the realm of detection--or seriously constrains models that could predict them. A fully inclusive technique is presented to study the b [yields] s[gamma] transition as a function of photon energy, using 88.5 [+-] 1.0 x 10[sup 6] B[bar B] meson decays collected by the BaBar experiment in the years 2000 to 2002. The expected statistical and systematic uncertainties have been fully determined which enables first comparisons with theoretical predictions and other experimental results. It also lays the basis for the determination of the inclusive branching fraction [Beta](B [yields] X[sub s][gamma]) and the measurement of the photon energy spectrum.

Book Description
By combining a recent estimate of the total {bar B} → X{sub s}[gamma] branching fraction at O([alpha]{sub s}2) with a detailed analysis of the effects of a cut E{sub [gamma]} ≥ 1.6 GeV on photon energy, a prediction for the partial {bar B} → X{sub s}[gamma] branching fraction at next-to-next-to-leading order in renormalization-group improved perturbation theory is obtained, in which contributions from all relevant scales are properly factorized. The result Br({bar B} → X{sub s}{gamma}) = (2.98 ± 0.26) · 10−4 is about 1.4[sigma] lower than the experimental world average. This opens a window for significant New Physics contributions in rare radiative B decays.
