Cette étude a pour objet d'estimer dans quelle mesure les immigrants internationaux arrivés au Québec entre 1951 et 1971 ont contribué à la croissance du revenu national québécois de cette période. Le 1er chapitre est consacré à la précision de l'objet de l'étude, à l'examen de diverses démarches analytiques possibles pour analyser cet impact, et à la revue critique de plusieurs étudies antérieures. Le 2e chapitre est consacré à l'application du modèle choisi, afin d'identifier les sources de la croissance du revenu national du Québec.
