Defiendete Mujer

Defiendete Mujer PDF Author: Jos Luis Zorita Mor N.
Publisher: Palibrio
ISBN: 1463300549
Category : Sports & Recreation
Languages : en
Pages : 145

Book Description

Comparing Tort and Crime

Comparing Tort and Crime PDF Author: Matthew Dyson
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1316352250
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 557

Book Description
The fields of tort and crime have much in common in practice, particularly in how they both try to respond to wrongs and regulate future behaviour. Despite this commonality in fact, fascinating difficulties have hitherto not been resolved about how legal systems co-ordinate (or leave wild) the border between tort and crime. What is the purpose of tort law and criminal law, and how do you tell the difference between them? Do criminal lawyers and civil lawyers reason and argue in the same way? Are the rules on capacity, consent, fault, causation, secondary liability or defences the same in tort as in crime? How do the rules of procedure operate for each area? Are there points of overlap? When, how and why do tort and crime interact? This volume systematically answers these and other questions for eight legal systems: England, France, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Scotland, the Netherlands and Australia.

Spain, approaching SCUM state?

Spain, approaching SCUM state? PDF Author: José Quintás Alonso
Publisher: Bubok
ISBN: 8468666939
Category : Literary Collections
Languages : en
Pages : 63

Book Description
"I have seen it fit to draw attention to the SCUM Manifesto, written by Valerie Jean Solanas (born in Ventnor, New Jersey, 1936). Excerpts are included from her text to present her opinions on the problems she saw with society and to show her vision of a "perfect" future society and how both women and men would function (or not) in that society. The reader should not be surprised in any way, but rather should keep in mind the contradiction the Manifesto poses to advanced society, even though some feminist centers recognize its ideas as valid and they can even be found in some aspects of the current Spanish law against gender violence (LIVG).Websites and other visuals are included in the text in order to demonstrate the relevance of the Manifesto, as surprising and categorical as it is in its claims. The text provides an excellent opportunity to highlight something fundamental: the law (LIVG) does not take into account gender violence exercised by women on men, and it also does not explain why there cannot be gender violence without having or having had (at some point) an emotional relationship between the perpetrator (man) and the victim (woman), or why it discriminates based on sex and eliminates the presumption of innocence on behalf of the accused male.It is convenient to rethink these issues in the heat of empirical evidence rather than ideological evidence, and seek agreement with neighboring countries (EU-28)."

Feminism, National Identity and European Integration in Modern Spain

Feminism, National Identity and European Integration in Modern Spain PDF Author: Kathryn L. Mahaney
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
ISBN: 135019512X
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 225

Book Description
This book explores the evolution of Spanish feminism in the context of European feminisms and institutions from the 1960s to recent times. Beginning with Sección Femenina, the official Francoist women's organization, Feminism, National Identity and European Integration in Modern Spain traces the interplay between Spanish women's policy and international policymaking. In some cases, as with the Sección Femenina-championed Law of Political Rights (Ley de Derechos) in 1961, Spanish women's policy at least appeared more progressive than what Western democracies offered – notable at a time when Spain was considered backward. After Franco's death in 1975, Spain's democratic transition seemingly consolidated forward-thinking women's policy with a Constitution that guaranteed equality of the sexes in 1978, and with the creation of a national bureau charged with crafting women's policy, the Instituto de la Mujer (Women's Institute), in 1983. Yet feminists found themselves marginalized in Spanish political decision-making, as Kathryn L. Mahaney argues so successfully in this study. Mahaney reveals that women ultimately influenced domestic policy not by acting within national networks but by leveraging European connections, particularly after Spain joined the European Economic Community (EEC) in 1986. The book shows that Spanish feminists worked through the EEC to gain international approval of policies that had met domestic opposition, and did so by representing them as necessary litmus tests of nations' democratic integrity. Their proposals were shaped by the specific context of Spanish feminism, but also by Spanish debates about what rights democracies should grant women and what equality in a post-fascist nation should encompass. This ground-breaking study explains that, in turn, these processes shaped both Spain's and the European Union's much-prized self-identities as democratic communities.

Transcending Gender Ideology

Transcending Gender Ideology PDF Author: Antonio Malo
Publisher: Catholic University of America Press
ISBN: 0813232791
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 233

Book Description
Human sexuality is a very important subject, especially in a cultural context such as ours, in which social and work transformations offer behavioral models that are characterized by a remarkable sexual indeterminacy. In Transcending Gender Ideology, Antonio Malo tries to rethink sexuality with equilibrium and intellectual rigor, using a philosophical approach, since sexuality does not only affect biological aspects or social conditioning, but above all the same essence of the relationship between man and woman. Malo’s reflections begin with the historical evolution of the concept of sexuality: the naturalistic conception, which sees the difference between man and woman as something biological and absolute, and the postmodern conception, which criticizes it by judging human sexuality as a socio-cultural construction or gender. According to Malo, the limitation of the gender approach is to deny the relationship of human sexuality to the body and to the differences between man and woman. In fact, by rejecting these aspects, they end up sustaining a limitless creativity of freedom, which transforms the body into something that is used at will, and relationships as something fluid. Faced with these extremes, Malo proposes a vision of sexuality as a personal condition or sexed condition, received at the time of birth, but which develops, grows and matures through family models, experiences and relationships. Even if based on an original sexual difference, sexed condition covers many other aspects: physical, psychological, social and cultural, as well as behavioral patterns and, above all, the personal integration of sexuality through the gift of oneself in marriage or in celibacy.

A New History of Iberian Feminisms

A New History of Iberian Feminisms PDF Author: Silvia Bermudez
Publisher: University of Toronto Press
ISBN: 1487510292
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 541

Book Description
A New History of Iberian Feminisms is both a chronological history and an analytical discussion of feminist thought in the Iberian Peninsula, including Portugal, and the territories of Spain – the Basque Provinces, Catalonia, and Galicia – from the eighteenth century to the present day. The Iberian Peninsula encompasses a dynamic and fraught history of feminism that had to contend with entrenched tradition and a dominant Catholic Church. Editors Silvia Bermúdez and Roberta Johnson and their contributors reveal the long and historical struggles of women living within various parts of the Iberian Peninsula to achieve full citizenship. A New History of Iberian Feminisms comprises a great deal of new scholarship, including nineteenth-century essays written by women on the topic of equality. By addressing these lost texts of feminist thought, Bermúdez, Johnson, and their contributors reveal that female equality, considered a dormant topic in the early nineteenth century, was very much part of the political conversation, and helped to launch the new feminist wave in the second half of the century.
