La description de ces différentes façons de pratiquer l'art dentaire permet d'évaluer les avantages et inconvénients de chaque pratique et ce aussi bien pour le personnel soignant que pour les soignés. De nombreuses inégalités et difficultés étant aujourd'hui misent en lumière. Elle nous permet également d'évaluer la position et la situation de l'exercice des chirurgiens dentistes français dont la pratique libérale est sous la menace d'un avenir incertain. Et même si celui-ci semble être l'un des plus favorable à travers les continents il présente néanmoins quelques lacunes.

This volume continues the collaboration between the RMC book series and the French management research think tank ISEOR (Socio-Economic Institute for Firms and Organizations). Those familiar with Henri Savall’s and his colleague Véronique Zardet’s earlier work on the socio-economic theory of organizations will recognize their assessments of organizational dysfunctions and hidden costs – but in a different context. The European Register of Cleft Lip and Palate Services will be produced as a result of the concerted action project: Standards of Care for Cleft Lip and Palate in Europe: EUROCLEFT funded by the European Commision under its BIOMED II and INCO COPERNICUS programmes. The project, aimed at developing a network of cleft care teams across Europe, ran for three years between 1996 and 1999 and aimed broadly to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of care for European children with clefts of the lip and/or palate. Clefts of the lip and/or palate are birth defects affecting 1:500 live births. Successful rehabilitation requires a complex multidisciplinary mix of services.
