This document, the S2Larson Reforestation and Fuel Reduction EIS,S3 describes the analysis of four alternatives for reforestation and fuel reduction activities in the 1987 Larson Fire area. Alternative 1 (Proposed Action) would reforest approximately 3,963 acres. A combination of manual, mechanical, thermal, and chemical site preparation treatments are proposed, including aerial and ground application of herbicides. Alternative 2 (No action) would leave the area in its present condition. Alternative 3 would reforest approximately 2,617 acres. A combination of manual, mechanical, thermal, and ground applied herbicide site preparation and release treatments are proposed. Alternative 4 would reforest approximately 3,775 acres in similar means as Alternative 1, but with reduced aerial herbicide application acres. Alternative 4 is the Forest Service S2Preferred AlternativeS3.
