La physiologie des plantes a acquis aujourd'hui une telle importance pour les étudiants en sciences naturelles, en médecine, en agriculture et en sylviculture, qu'il conviendrait de lui réserver une plus large place que celle qu'on lui a faite jusqu'à présent dans le programme des universités et des autres établissements d'instruction supérieure. Il y aurait lieu avant tout de créer des exercices pratiques. J'en ai institué moi-mème avec succès à l'université d'léna. J'ai pu constater ainsi que ces exercices ne soulèvent pas de difficultés insurmontables, comme il le semblerait de prime abord. Mon but, en écrivant ce manuel, a été de faciliter l'étude de la physiologie végétale. Toutefois, ce livre n'est pas exclusivement destiné aux étudiants. Je me plais à croire qu'il sera favorablement accueilli également par les professeurs de sciences naturelles. La botanique est une branche d'enseignement qui a sa place marquée à l'école pour une foule de raisons. Des expériences de physiologie lui donneront un at trait spécial et elles en rehausseront l'importance comme moyen d'é ducation pour la jeunesse.
