Can Scotland be considered an English colony? Is its experience and literature comparable to that of overseas postcolonial countries? This book argues that much of Scotland's history and culture from 1100 forward is Jewish. Rising densities of human settlements, migration and transport to reduce distances to market, and specialization and trade facilitated by fewer international divisions are central to economic development.
