I am my dear Harry really at a loss, indeed I cannot conjecture the reason why I am forgotten - and I assure you I shall continue very unhappy and distress'd until this matter is explained - I have writen [sic] you every Sunday since you left Boston and shall continue so to do and I pray you to do the same, and in the case we shall hear from each other by every Wednesdays mail, and altho we are one hundred miles farther distant from each other we shall receive Letters once a week as usual - Mentions information regarding interaction between Spain and England.

Book Description
This appears to be a preliminary draft of Knox's 29 August 1790 letter to George Washington (in the GW Papers at the Library of Congress) responding to Washington's secret communication of 27 August. In that communication, sent to the members of his Cabinet, Washington asked for opinions as to the proper response to take if the British asked for permission to travel across U.S. territory, from Detroit to the Mississippi, in order to attack Spanish posts. See 02437.08217 for Knox's first draft. See also GLC02437.04709 and GLC02437.08216 for related drafts.

Book Description
Henry Knox was Chief Artillery Officer during the American Revolution and later served as the first Secretary of War. In 1775 he married Lucy Flucker, the daughter of a steadfast Loyalist, Thomas Flucker, Royal Secretary of the Province of Massachusetts. But who were Henry and Lucy Knox? Thus began a quest to learn more about this exceptional couple and in 2010 I discovered a collection of correspondence between Henry and Lucy. This book marks the first published edition of these letters.
