Book Description
Welcome to a nightmare to remember. When a disguised shooter crashes a high school prom in the quiet suburban town of Downers Grove, Illinois, Charlotte Taylor doesn’t know if she’ll make it out alive. In order to survive the night with her date and long-time friend, she is forced to face her misconceptions regarding the identity of the gunman and the meaning behind the night’s horrific, bone-chilling circumstances. Throughout the startlingly short yet drawn-out evening, a harrowing series of events triggers pivotal flashbacks, jumping back and forth through time as seemingly trivial memories reveal incremental details—details that could be the difference between life and death. But precious time is passing. Lives are lost. And nothing is adding up in Charlotte’s panicked attempt to piece together this senseless nightmare of a puzzle. In the end, not everything is what it seems as hidden forces are at play…and those who once thought they were invisible now make themselves seen.

The Invisible Classroom: Relationships, Neuroscience & Mindfulness in School (The Norton Series on the Social Neuroscience of Education)

The Invisible Classroom: Relationships, Neuroscience & Mindfulness in School (The Norton Series on the Social Neuroscience of Education) PDF Author: Kirke Olson
Publisher: W. W. Norton & Company
ISBN: 0393708527
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 253

Book Description
Improving student learning with the tools of neuroscience and mindfulness. How is expanding students’ strengths more effective than improving their weaknesses? Why is creating a school where staff and students feel safe necessary for learning? How can anchoring with simple mindfulness practices prevent classroom behavioral problems? There is more to a classroom than just a teacher and a group of students. All classroom interactions have “invisible” neurobiological, emotional, and social aspects—the emotional histories of students, the teacher’s own background and biography. In this book, Kirke Olson takes lessons from brain science, mindfulness, and positive psychology to help teachers understand the full range of their students’ school experiences. Using its classroom-ready resources, teachers, administrators, parents, and policy makers can make the invisible visible, turning human investment in their students into the best possible learning outcomes.

Foreword by Dave and Ashley Willis, authors of The Naked Marriage and hosts of The Naked Marriage Podcast A husband-wife team offers practical advice for married couples to end the cycle of reactionary arguments by examining the most common issues that trigger disagreements and applying God’s Word to radically transform relationships. Many couples know their marriage has room for improvement, but it is hard to pinpoint exactly why a relationship is suffering. Often times everyday triggers are the culprit. If you are wondering how to break out of the cycle of reactionary outbursts, cold shoulders, resentment, and pain that harms your relationship, you are not alone. Experiencing peace and joy rather than anger and frustration is not as hard as you think! Marriage Triggers walks you through thirty-one of the most common marital issues that sabotage great relationships, like poor communication, lack of spiritual leadership, busy schedules, and different parenting styles. Married for fourteen years, authors Amber and Guy Lia are your typical couple and they share tips for countering negative reactions to triggers with gentle, biblical responses. Rather than run from the things that cause conflict, Amber and Guy believe these triggers are opportunities for growth, both individually and as a couple. They challenge you to let Marriage Triggers renew your commitment to responding gently and biblically towards your partner.

Positive Behavior Support at the Secondary "Targeted Group" Level

Positive Behavior Support at the Secondary Author: Laura A. Riffel
Publisher: Corwin Press
ISBN: 1483353753
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 177

Book Description
Seal the gaps in student learning with targeted intervention Research on positive behavior support has focused largely on tier one, school-wide disciplinary policies, and tier three interventions tailored to highly problematic students. This leaves a gap in the middle. "Yellow zone", or tier two, interventions are an extremely effective way to address many challenging behavior and disciplinary issues in small group settings. Positive Behavior Support at the Secondary "Targeted Group" Level shows teachers how to identify the students who can benefit from tier two interventions and demonstrates how to create an implementation plan that delivers results. Focusing on proactive strategies rather than reactive solutions, Riffel and Mitchiner’s research-based techniques include: General strategies that can be applied at the individual student level, such as self-management, proximity control, and the Premack principle and peer mentoring Comprehensive action plans that anticipate the full range of disruptions that may occur A useful behavior rating sheet proven effective in improving student behavior "Funk Sway" For The Classroom: Using Feng Shui principles to create a classroom environment that enhances productivity, learning, and creativity Apply the techniques in this book to reduce challenging behavior, improve school climate, and improve outcomes for ALL students. "This book is easy to read, understand, and implement in any classroom or school. Teachers will be drawn to the resources that can be copied and used immediately! I can’t wait to apply some of these practices in my classroom!" Rachel Spenner, Sixth Grade Teacher Westridge Elementary School

The Irresistible Introvert

The Irresistible Introvert PDF Author: Michaela Chung
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1510704795
Category : Self-Help
Languages : en
Pages : 208

Book Description
Learn the tools to shed your mask of extroversion, develop your own magnetism, and reveal the true you. One third to one half of Americans are introverts in a culture that celebrates—even enforces—an ideal of extroversion and a cult of personality. Political leaders are charismatic, celebrities bask in the spotlight, and authority figures are assertive. It is no surprise that a “quiet revolution” has begun to emerge among the “invisible” half of the population, asserting that they are just as powerful in their own unique ways. The Irresistible Introvert embodies the spirit of this revival and breaks down the myth that charisma is reserved for extroverts only. This mini manifesto shows introverts how to master the art of quiet magnetism in a noisy world—no gregariousness required! Within these pages, you’ll discover how to shed the mask of extroversion and reveal a more compelling (and authentic) you. You’ll also learn how to: Master the inner game of intrigue Manage your energy for optimal engagement Create an emotional ecosystem for charisma Establish introverted intimacy Cultivate communication skills for quiet types As a “professional” charismatic introvert, author Michaela Chung demonstrates that you no longer have to forcefully push yourself outward into the world against your nature, but can rather magnetize people inward toward the true you. In the process, you’ll learn to embrace your “innie life” and discover potential you never knew you had.

A Beauty-ful Boson

A Beauty-ful Boson PDF Author: Giulia Di Gregorio
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031200136
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 229

Book Description
The analysis described in this thesis is the search for the Higgs boson, decaying into bb pair, in the associated production with a vector boson, in the extreme Higgs boson transverse momentum region where the Higgs boson is reconstructed using the large-R jet technique. The use of the large-R jets allows to add a part of the phase space unexplored so far, which is particularly sensitive to possible new physics. The analysed data have been collected at LHC by the ATLAS detector between 2015 and 2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 13 TeV. The same dataset has been used to perform the differential pp → ZH and pp → WH cross-section measurements used to extract the information on the Higgs couplings and to put limits on Beyond the Standard Model effects. Furthermore the analysis has been re-used to perform a cross-section measurement of the diboson ZZ and WZ processes because the diboson and the Higgs processes have a similar topology. For the first time the ZZ(bb) and WZ(bb) cross-sections are measured at √s = 13 TeV and the observed cross-section measurements are consistent with the Standard Model predictions.
