Book Description
This volume contains articles accepted for presentation during The Intelli gent Information Systems Symposium IIS'2001 which was held in Zakopane, Poland, on June 18-22, 200l. This is tenth, in the order, symposium orga nized by the Institute of Computer Science of Polish Academy of Sciences and devoted to new trends in (broadly understood) Artificial Intelligence. The idea of organizing such meetings dates back to 1992. Our main in tention guided the first, rather small-audience, workshop in the series was to resume the results gained in Polish scientific centers as well as contrast them with the esea r rch performed by Polish scientists working at the uni versities in Europe and USA. This idea proved to be attractive enough that we decided to continue such meetings. As the years went by, the workshops has transformed into regular symposia devoted to such fields like Machine Learning, Knowledge Discovery, Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Based Systems and Reasoning, and Soft Computing (i.e. Fuzzy and Rough Sets, Bayesian Networks, Neural Networks and Evolutionary Algorithms). At present, about 50 papers prepared by researches from Poland and other countries are usually presented. Besides, for several years now, the symposia are accompanied by a number of tutorials, given by the outstanding scientists in their domain.

Book Description
This volume contains articles accepted for presentation during The Intelligent Information Systems Symposium IIS'2002 which was held in Sopot, Poland, on June 3-6, 2002. This is eleventh, in the order, symposium organized by the Institute of Computer Science of Polish Academy of Sciences and devoted to new trends in (broadly understood) ArtificialIntelligence. The meetings started back to 1992. With small initial audience, workshops in the series grew to an important meeting of Polish and foreign scientists working at the universities in Europe, Asia and the Northern America. Over years, the workshops transformed into regular symposia devoted to latest trends in such fields like Machine Learning, Knowledge Discovery, Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Based Systems and Reasoning, and Soft Computing (i.e. Fuzzy and Rough Sets, Bayesian Networks, Neural Networks and Evolutionary Algorithms). At present, about 50-60 papers are accepted each year. Besides, for several years now, the symposia are accompanied by a number of tutorials, given by the outstanding scientists in their domain. The main topics of this year symposium included: • decision trees and other classifier systems • neural network and biologiccally motivated systems • clustering methods • handling imprecision and uncertainty • deductive, distributed and agent-based systems We were pleased to see the continuation of the last year trend towards an increase in the number of co-operative contributions and in the number and diversity of practical applications of theoretical research.

Book Description
This volume contains articles accepted for presentation during The Intel ligent Information Processing and Web Mining Conference IIS:IIPWM'04 which was held in Zakopane, Poland, on May 17-20, 2004. This conference is a continuation of a series of 13 successful symposia and conferrences on Intel ligent Information Systems, organized by the Institute of Computer Science of Polish Academy of Sciences, devoted to new trends in (broadly understood) Artificial Intelligence. The idea of organizing such meetings dates back to 1992. Our main in tention guided the first, rather small-audience, workshop in the series was to resume the results gained in Polish scientific centers as well as contrast them with the research performed by Polish scientists working at the universities in Europe and USA and their foreign collaborators. This idea proved to be attractive enough that we decided to continue such meetings. As the years went by, the workshops has transformed into regular symposia devoted to such fields like Machine Learning, Knowledge Discovery, Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Based Systems and Reasoning, and Soft Computing (i. e. Fuzzy and Rough Sets, Bayesian Networks, Neural Networks and Evo lutionary Algorithms). At present, about 50 papers prepared by researches from Poland and other countries are usually presented. This year conference devotes much more attention to the newest devel opments in the area of Artificial Intelligence, related to broadly understood Web mining.

Uncertainty And Intelligent Information Systems

Uncertainty And Intelligent Information Systems PDF Author: Ronlad R Yager
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814471798
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 537

Book Description
Intelligent systems are necessary to handle modern computer-based technologies managing information and knowledge. This book discusses the theories required to help provide solutions to difficult problems in the construction of intelligent systems. Particular attention is paid to situations in which the available information and data may be imprecise, uncertain, incomplete or of a linguistic nature. The main aspects of clustering, classification, summarization, decision making and systems modeling are also addressed. Topics covered in the book include fundamental issues in uncertainty, the rapidly emerging discipline of information aggregation, neural networks, Bayesian networks and other network methods, as well as logic-based systems.

Book Description
On behalf of KES International and the KES 2009 Organising Committee we are very pleased to present these volumes, the proceedings of the 13th Inter- tional Conference on Knowledge-Based Intelligent Information and Engineering Systems, held at the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Mathematics, University of Chile, in Santiago de Chile. This year, the broad focus of the KES annual conference was on intelligent applications, emergent intelligent technologies and generic topics relating to the theory, methods, tools and techniques of intelligent systems. This covers a wide range of interests, attracting many high-quality papers, which were subjected to a very rigorous review process. Thus, these volumes contain the best papers, carefully selected from an impressively large number of submissions, on an - teresting range of intelligent-systems topics. For the ?rsttime in overa decade of KES events, the annualconferencecame to South America, to Chile. For many delegates this represented the antipode of their own countries. We recognise the tremendous e?ort it took for everyone to travel to Chile, and we hope this e?ort was rewarded. Delegates were presented with the opportunity of sharing their knowledge of high-tech topics on theory andapplicationofintelligentsystemsandestablishinghumannetworksforfuture work in similar research areas, creating new synergies, and perhaps even, new innovative ?elds of study. The fact that this occurred in an interesting and beautiful area of the world was an added bonus.

Advances in Intelligent Information Systems

Advances in Intelligent Information Systems PDF Author: Zbigniew W Ras
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642051820
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 366

Book Description
Intelligent Information Systems (IIS) can be defined as the next generation of Information Systems (IS) developed as a result of integration of AI and database (DB) technologies. IIS embody knowledge that allows them to exhibit intelligent behavior, allows them to cooperate with users and other systems in problem solving, discovery, retrieval, and manipulation of data and knowledge. For any IIS to serve its purpose, the information must be available when it is needed. This means that the computing systems used to store data and process the information, and the security controls used to protect it must be functioning correctly. This book covers some of the above topics and it is divided into four sections: Classification, Approximation and Data Security, Knowledge Management, and Application of IIS to medical and music domains.
