Intelligent Counting Under Information Imprecision

Intelligent Counting Under Information Imprecision PDF Author: Maciej Wygralak
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3642346855
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 294

Book Description
Counting belongs to the most elementary and frequent mental activities of human beings. Its results are a basis for coming to a decision in a lot of situations and dimensions of our life. This book presents a novel approach to the advanced and sophisticated case, called intelligent counting, in which the objects of counting are imprecisely, fuzzily specified. Formally, this collapses to counting in fuzzy sets, interval-valued fuzzy sets or I-fuzzy sets (Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy sets). The monograph is the first one showing and emphasizing that the presented methods of intelligent counting are human-consistent: are reflections and formalizations of real, human counting procedures performed under imprecision and, possibly, incompleteness of information. Other applications of intelligent counting in various areas of intelligent systems and decision support will be discussed, too. The whole presentation is self-contained, systematic, and equipped with many examples, figures and tables. Computer and information scientists, researchers, engineers and practitioners, applied mathematicians, and postgraduate students interested in information imprecision are the target readers.

Intelligent Medical Decision Support System Based on Imperfect Information

Intelligent Medical Decision Support System Based on Imperfect Information PDF Author: Krzysztof Dyczkowski
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319670050
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 137

Book Description
This book discusses computer-supported medical diagnosis with a particular focus on ovarian tumor diagnosis – since ovarian cancer is difficult to diagnose and has high mortality rates, especially in Central and Eastern Europe. It presents the theoretical foundations (both medical and mathematical) of the intelligent OvaExpert system, which supports decision-making in tumor diagnosis. OvaExpert was created primarily to help gynecologists predict the malignancy of ovarian tumors by applying the existing diagnostic models and using modern methods of computational intelligence that accommodate imprecise and imperfect medical data, both of which are common features of everyday medical practice. The book presents novel methods based on interval-valued fuzzy sets and the theory of their cardinalities.

Fuzzy Transportation and Transshipment Problems

Fuzzy Transportation and Transshipment Problems PDF Author: Amarpreet Kaur
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030266761
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 235

Book Description
This book presents a novel approach to the formulation and solution of three classes of problems: the fully fuzzy transportation problem, the fully fuzzy transshipment problem, and fully fuzzy solid transportation problem. It points out some limitations of the existing formulations and approaches, indicating some possible, conceptually and algorithmically attractive solutions to alleviate them. In particular, the book describes new conceptual and algorithmic solutions for finding the fuzzy optimal solutions of the single-objective fully fuzzy transportation problems, the fully fuzzy transshipment problems and the fully fuzzy solid transportation problems. Moreover, based on the novel concepts and solutions proposed by combining the concept of a fully fuzzy solid transportation problem and a fully fuzzy transshipment problem, it describes a new class of problems, i.e. the fully fuzzy solid trans-shipment problem, together with its fuzzy linear programming formulation and some methods to find its fuzzy optimal solution. The book offers the readers a timely piece of literature in the field of fuzzy linear programming, and is expected to act as a source of inspiration for future research and applications.

Automatic Control, Robotics, and Information Processing

Automatic Control, Robotics, and Information Processing PDF Author: Piotr Kulczycki
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030485870
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 843

Book Description
This book presents a wide and comprehensive range of issues and problems in various fields of science and engineering, from both theoretical and applied perspectives. The desire to develop more effective and efficient tools and techniques for dealing with complex processes and systems has been a natural inspiration for the emergence of numerous fields of science and technology, in particular control and automation and, more recently, robotics. The contributions gathered here concern the development of methods and algorithms to determine best practices regarding broadly perceived decisions or controls. From an engineering standpoint, many of them focus on how to automate a specific process or complex system. From a tools-based perspective, several contributions address the development of analytic and algorithmic methods and techniques, devices and systems that make it possible to develop and subsequently implement the automation and robotization of crucial areas of human activity. All topics discussed are illustrated with sample applications.

Artificial Intelligence-of-Things (AIoT) in Precision Agriculture

Artificial Intelligence-of-Things (AIoT) in Precision Agriculture PDF Author: Yaqoob Majeed
Publisher: Frontiers Media SA
ISBN: 2832544312
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 206

Book Description
The merging of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet-of-Things is known as Artificial Intelligence-of-Things (AIoT). IoT consists of interlinked computing devices and machines which can acquire, transfer, and execute field/industrial operations without human involvement, while AI processes the acquired data and helps extract the required information. The technologies work in synergy: AI enriches IoT through machine learning and deep learning-based data analysis and learning capabilities, whereas IoT enriches AI through data acquisition, connectivity, and data exchange. Precision agriculture is becoming critically important for sustainable food production to meet the growing food demand. In recent decades, AI and IoT techniques have played an increasing role within industrial operations (e.g. autonomous manufacturing, automated supply chain management, predictive maintenance, smart energy grids, smart home appliances, and wearables), however, agricultural field operations are still heavily dependent on human labor. This is because these operations are ill-defined, unstructured, and susceptible to variation in natural conditions (e.g. illumination, landscape, atmosphere) plus the biological nature of crops (fruits, stems, leaves, and/or shoots continuously change their shape and/or color as they grow).

Advances in Artificial Intelligence

Advances in Artificial Intelligence PDF Author: Eleni Stroulia
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3540451536
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 378

Book Description
AI 2001 is the 14th in the series of Arti cial Intelligence conferences sponsored by the Canadian Society for Computational Studies of Intelligence/Soci et e - nadienne pour l’ etude de l’intelligence par ordinateur. As was the case last year too, the conference is being held in conjunction with the annual conferences of two other Canadian societies, Graphics Interface (GI 2001) and Vision Int- face (VI 2001). We believe that the overall experience will be enriched by this conjunction of conferences. This year is the \silver anniversary" of the conference: the rst Canadian AI conference was held in 1976 at UBC. During its lifetime, it has attracted Canadian and international papers of high quality from a variety of AI research areas. All papers submitted to the conference received at least three indep- dent reviews. Approximately one third were accepted for plenary presentation at the conference. The best paper of the conference will be invited to appear in Computational Intelligence.
