Infrared Absorption Spectra (1964) PDF Author: Herbert Hershenson

ISBN: 0323160697

Book Description
Infrared Absorption Spectra: Index for 1958-1962 provides a five-year supplement to the original "Infrared Absorption Spectra: Index for 1945-1957. The chief aim of this index is to provide a means for the location of published absorption spectra and the listing has been kept as simple as possible. This index includes 66 journals and one collection of spectra in book form as compared with 33 journals and one book in the original. It contains approximately 20,000 references to infrared absorption spectra published during 1958-1962. The index is arranged according to the compounds whose spectra are given. The indexing arrangement is roughly similar to that used in Chemical Abstracts, although it has not been practical to conform to Chemical Abstracts nomenclature throughout. Listings are made based on the parent substance, while in the case of inorganic compounds, solution spectra are normally indexed according to the ionic species, which contributes the significant absorption. The spectra of polymeric materials are listed in proper alphabetical order according to the parent compound. The provided tables give a complete list of the volumes and corresponding years of the journals covered and also a list of the abbreviations used. Each reference consists of an abbreviated symbol for the journal, the volume number, and the page.

Book Description
This book is not intended to be a basic text in infrared spectroscopy. Many such books exist and I have referred to them in the text. Rather, I have tried to find applications that would be interesting to a variety of people: advanced undergraduate chemistry students, graduate students and research workers in several disciplines, spectros copists, and physicians active in research or in the practice of medicine. With this aim in mind there was no intent to have exhaustive coverage of the literature. I should like to acknowledge my use of several books and reviews, which were invaluable in my search for material: G. H. Beaven, E. A. Johnson, H. A. Willis and R. G. 1. Miller, Molecular Spec troscopy, Heywood and Company, Ltd., London, 1961. J. A. Schell man and Charlotte Schellman, 'The Conformation of Polypeptide Chains in Proteins," in The Proteins, Vol. II, 2nd Ed. (H. Neurath, ed.), Academic Press, New York, 1964. R. T. O'Connor, "Application of Infrared Spectrophotometry to Fatty Acid Derivatives," J. Am. Oil Chemists' Soc. 33, 1 (1956). F. L. Kauffman, "Infrared Spectroscopy of Fats and Oils," J. Am. Oil Chemists' Soc. 41,4 (1964). W. J. Potts, Jr., Chemical Infrared Spectroscopy, Vol. I, Techniques, Wiley, New York, 1963. R. S. Tipson, Infrared Spectroscopy of Carbohydrates, National Bureau of Standards Monograph llO, Washington, D.C., 1968. C. N. R. Rao, Chemical Applications of Infrared Spectroscopy, Academic Press, New York, 1963.

Visible and Near Infrared Absorption Spectra of Human and Animal Haemoglobin determination and application

Visible and Near Infrared Absorption Spectra of Human and Animal Haemoglobin determination and application PDF Author: Williem.G. Zijlstra
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1466564679
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 382

Book Description
The bright colour of haemoglobin has, from the very beginning, played a significant role in both the investigation of this compound as well as in the study of blood oxygen transport. Numerous optical methods have been developed for measuring haemoglobin concentration, oxygen saturation, and the principal dyshaemoglobins in vitro as well as in vivo.

Infrared Spectroscopy of Minerals and Related Compounds

Infrared Spectroscopy of Minerals and Related Compounds PDF Author: Nikita V. Chukanov
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319253492
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 1117

Book Description
This book provides an overview of the application of IR spectroscopy in mineralogical investigations, as well as modern trends in the IR spectroscopy of minerals. It includes the most important methodological aspects; characteristic IR bands of different chemical groups and coordination polyhedra; application of IR spectroscopy to the investigation of the crystal chemistry of amphiboles, phyllosilicates, tourmalines etc.; neutral molecules entrapped by microporous minerals; and analysis of hydrogen in nominally anhydrous minerals. About 1600 IR spectra (illustrations as well as a list of wavenumbers) of minerals and some related compounds are accompanied by detailed descriptions of the standard samples used. Each spectrum provides information about the occurrence, appearance, associated minerals, its empirical formula, and unit-cell parameters. The book also provides insights into sample preparation and/or spectrum registration methods. It includes IR spectra of 1020 minerals that were not covered in the book “Infrared spectra of mineral species: Extended library” published in 2014 and written by one of the authors. On average, each page provides information on two minerals/compounds. Subsections correspond to different classes of compounds (silicates, phosphates, arsenates, oxides etc.). About 290 new spectra have been obtained, and the remaining 1310 spectra are taken from most reliable literature sources (published over the last 60 years) and are redrawn in a unified style.

Organic Spectroscopy

Organic Spectroscopy PDF Author: Jag Mohan
Publisher: Alpha Science Int'l Ltd.
ISBN: 9781842651926
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 572

Book Description
"Written primarily to stimulate the interest of students in spectroscopy and make them aware of the latest developments in this field, this book begins with a general introduction to electromagnetic radiation and molecular spectroscopy. In addition to the usual topics on IR, UV, NMR and mass spectrometry, it includes substantial material on the currently useful techniques such as FT-IR, FT-NMR, [superscript 13]C-NMR, 2D-NMR, GC/MS, FAB/MS, Tendem and negative ion mass spectrometry for students engaged in advanced studies. Finally it gives a detailed account on optical rotatory dispersion (ORD) and circular dichroism (CD)." "Through the format evolved in the first edition remains intact, relevant new additions have been inserted at the appropriate places in various chapters of the book. Also included are a number of sample and study problems at the end of each chapter to illustrate the approach to problem solving that involve translations of sets of spectra into chemical structures."--BOOK JACKET.

Detection and Identification of Organic Compounds

Detection and Identification of Organic Compounds PDF Author: Miroslov Vecera
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1468418335
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 417

Book Description
The American edition of our monograph is not a mere translation of the Czech edition, which appeared some five years ago. We have had to respect the fact that even such a short period has sufficed for progress in this field, and that the field of application of methods of organic analysis has widened. We have therefore revised a number of chapters in Part 1, the general part of the monograph-mainly those devoted to chromatographic methods, which have been extended and complemented by methods of thin-layer chromatography and electrophoresis. The chapters on the theory of color reactions and on analytical literature have also been extended; the chapter on spectral methods has been extended by including the use of proton magnetic resonance in organic analysis, and the list of references has been enlarged by adding books of importance for organic analysis. In Part 2, the part dealing specifically with various elements and chemical groups, we have extended the chapters on solubility and on acids and bases. The methods for the detection and identification of given classes of compounds have also been supplemented by references to recent papers.
