"Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in the United States, currently ranking second among causes of preventable deaths. Our research group has shown in cultures of differentiated human adipocytes that 30 uM trans-10, cis-12 Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) increases IL-6 and IL-8 secretion into the media and lowers mRNA levels of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARī§).
