Transforming Learning with Meaningful Technologies

Transforming Learning with Meaningful Technologies PDF Author: Maren Scheffel
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030297365
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 779

Book Description
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 14th European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning, EC-TEL 2019, held in Delft, The Netherlands, in September 2019. The 41 research papers and 50 demo and poster papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 149 submissions. The contributions reflect the debate around the role of and challenges for cutting-edge 21st century meaningful technologies and advances such as artificial intelligence and robots, augmented reality and ubiquitous computing technologies and at the same time connecting them to different pedagogical approaches, types of learning settings, and application domains that can benefit from such technologies.

Biomedical Images and Computers

Biomedical Images and Computers PDF Author: J. Sklansky
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9783642932199
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 332

Book Description
The technology of automatic pattern recognition and digital image processing, after over two decades of basic research, is now appearing in important applications in biology and medicine as weIl as industrial, military and aerospace systems. In response to a suggestion from Mr. Norman Caplan, ·the Program Director for Automation, Bioengineering and Sensing at the United States National Science Foundation, the authors of this book organized the first Uni ted States-France Seminar on Biomedical Image Processing. The seminar met at the Hotel Beau Site, St. Pierre de Chartreuse, France on May 27-31, 1980. This book contains most of the papers presented at this seminar, as weIl as two papers (by Bisconte et al. and by Ploem ~ al.) discussed at the seminar but not appearing on the program. We view the subject matter of this seminar as a confluence amon~ three broad scientific and engineering disciplines: 1) biology and medicine, 2) imaging and optics, and 3) computer science and computer engineering. The seminar had three objectives: 1) to discuss the state of the art of biomedical image processing with emphasis on four themes: microscopic image analysis, radiological image analysis, tomography, and image processing technology; 2) to place values on directions for future research so as to give guidance to agencies supporting such research; and 3) to explore and encourage various areas of cooperative research between French and Uni ted States scientists within the field of Biomedical Image Processing.

Aerospace Actuators 2

Aerospace Actuators 2 PDF Author: Jean-Charles Maré
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1848219423
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 292

Book Description
This book is the second in a series of volumes which cover the topic of aerospace actuators following a systems-based approach. This second volume brings an original, functional and architectural vision to more electric aerospace actuators. The aspects of signal (Signal-by-Wire) and power (Power-by-Wire) are treated from the point of view of needs, their evolution throughout history, and operational solutions that are in service or in development. This volume is based on an extensive bibliography, numerous supporting examples and orders of magnitude which refer to flight controls and landing gear for various aircraft (fixed or rotorwing, launchers) in commercial, private and military applications. The topics covered in this set of books constitute a significant source of information for individuals and engineers from a variety of disciplines, seeking to learn more about aerospace actuation systems and components.

Sustainable Ecological Engineering Design

Sustainable Ecological Engineering Design PDF Author: Mohammad Dastbaz
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319326465
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 394

Book Description
This book focuses on the impacts of the built environment, and how to predict and measure the benefits and consequences of changes taking place to address sustainability in the development and building industries. It draws together the best treatments of these subjects from the Leeds Sustainability Institute’s inaugural International Conference on Sustainability, Ecology, Engineering, Design for Society (SEEDS). The focus of discussion is on understanding how buildings and spaces are designed and nurtured to obtain optimal outcomes in energy efficiency and environmental impacts. In addition to examining technical issues such as modeling energy performance, emphasis is placed on the health and well-being of occupants. This holistic approach addresses the interdependence of people with the built and natural environments. The book’s contents reflect the interdisciplinary and international collaboration critical to assembly of the knowledge required for positive change.

Teaching-Learning Contemporary Physics

Teaching-Learning Contemporary Physics PDF Author: Beata Jarosievitz
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030787206
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 279

Book Description
This book presents research contributions focussing on the introduction of contemporary physics topics – mainly, but not exclusively, quantum physics – into high school currciula. Despite the important advances and discoveries in quantum physics and relativity which have revolutionized our views of nature and our everyday lives, the presence of these topics in high school physics education is still lacking. In this book physics education researchers report on the teaching and learning of quantum physics from different perspectives and discuss the design and use of different pedagogical approaches and educational pathways. There is still much debate as to what content is appropriate at high school level as well what pedagogical approaches and strategies should be adopted to support student learning. Currently there is a greater focus on how to teach modern physics at the high school level rather than classical physics. However, teachers still lack experience and availability of appropriate teaching and learning materials to support the coherent integration of Quantum Physics in high school curricula. All of the 19 papers presented in this book discuss innovative approaches for enhancing physics education in schools.
