Book Description
Hanson Hobbs (1765-1848) and Mary Ann Shipley (1767-1848), daughter of Richard Shipley (1730-1787), an Ensign in the Revolutionary War, were married at Baltimore, Maryland, in 1791. They had ten children, 1791-1808. The family migrated to Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, in 1801 and later to Ohio. Hanson and Mary Ann died in Knox County, Ohio. Their son, Nathan Hobbs (1791-1862), and his wife, Elizabeth Hamilton (1805-1899), a native of Kentucky, had at least eight children, 1826-after 1843. The family was living in South Carolina in 1826; migrated Washington County, Pennsylvania, between 1826 and 1830; then to Henry County, Iowa, in 1844. Nathaniel and Elizabeth died near Oakland Mills, Iowa. " ... The Shipley Families are mentioned in this history as there were marriages between the Hobbs Family and each of the two Shipley families."--P. 1. Descendants and relatives lived in Maryland, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Iowa, California, Wyoming and elsewhere.
