Waste Heat Recovery: Principles And Industrial Applications

Waste Heat Recovery: Principles And Industrial Applications PDF Author: Chirla Chandra Sekhara Reddy
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9811248419
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 882

Book Description
This book presents a comprehensive coverage of fundamentals, latest technologies and industrial applications of Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) in process industries. Simple and effective WHR techniques are illustrated with industrial examples, to help readers to identify, calculate and develop heat recovery potential in their processes. Key benefits of WHR projects, which are useful for developing successful WHR business cases, are demonstrated. Special emphasis is given towards major technical risks and mitigation plans, for implementing sound WHR projects. Techniques for reaping benefits of WHR projects for longer periods are also outlined. Applying these techniques with an understanding of the principles explained in this book, and taking cues from the examples and suggestions, the reader will be able to realise sustained benefits in their process.Solution manual is provided for free to instructors who adopt this textbook. Heat Extraction Project, Geothermal Reservoir Engineering Research at Stanford

Pages : 31

Book Description
The main objective of the SGP Heat Extraction Project is to provide a means for estimating the thermal behavior of geothermal fluids produced from fractured hydrothermal resources. The methods are based on estimated thermal properties of the reservoir components, reservoir management planning of production and reinjection, and the mixing of reservoir fluids: geothermal, resource fluid cooled by drawdown and infiltrating groundwater, and reinjected recharge heated by sweep flow through the reservoir formation. Several reports and publications, listed in Appendix A, describe the development of the analytical methods which were part of five Engineer and PhD dissertations, and the results from many applications of the methods to achieve the project objectives. The Heat Extraction Project is to evaluate the thermal properties of fractured geothermal resource and forecasted effects of reinjection recharge into operating reservoirs.

Book Description
The main objective of the Heat Extraction Project has been the development of means to estimate the thermal behavior of geothermal fluids from fractured hydrothermal resources based on production of mixed reservoir fluids from heat sweep by reinjected brine and resource fluid cooled by drawdown and infiltrating waters. Several reports and publications, listed in the concluding section of this report, resulted from the application of the SGP heat sweep model to achieve this objective. The Heat Extraction Project made major advances in the development of the 1-D Heat Sweep Model and its application in geothermal fields in several countries. Heat sweep joint studies are underway for reinjection evaluation at the Los Azufres, Los Humeros, and La Primavera fields in Mexico, for the 500 t/h reinjection test for the redevelopment program at Wairakei, New Zealand, for two hot water supply recirculation systems to be developed in the USSR, and for the phase 2 test at the Hot Dry Rock project at Fenton Hill, New Mexico. Advances were also made in the cooperative studies with CFE at Los Azufres on the evaluation of the effects of early operation of small wellhead generators on the reservoirs of potentially large geothermal fields. 9 refs., 5 figs.

Heat Energy Recovery for Industrial Processes and Wastes

Heat Energy Recovery for Industrial Processes and Wastes PDF Author: David Borge-Diez
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031243749
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 245

Book Description
This book provides new techniques for recovering exhaust heat from gas turbines, natural gas combined cycle power plants, biomass boilers, and waste heat recovery from compost and wastewater treatment plants The book provides modeling for the study and comparison of combined cycle power plants with a heat recovery boiler of three pressure levels with reheating, inserting a technological improvement of solar hybridization and partial regeneration in the gas turbine. It assesses the environmental impacts and economic sustainability associated with these improvements. In addition, it proposes emissions minimization, with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), and emissions treatment with a CO2 capture plant (CCP) and combined cycle power plant. Finally, it provides new insights into heat recovery from compost and exhaust gases recovery from wastewater treatment plants.
