Handbook of Brownian Motion

Handbook of Brownian Motion PDF Author: A. N. Borodin
Publisher: Birkhauser
ISBN:
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 484

Book Description
The purpose of this book is to give an easy reference to a large number of facts and formulae associated Brownian motion. The collection contains more than 2500 numbered formulae. This book is of value as a basic reference material to researchers, graduate students, and people doing applied work with Brownian motion and diffusions. It can also be used as a source of explicit examples when teaching stochastic processes.Compared with the first edition published in 1996, this second edition has been revised and considerably expanded. More than 1000 new formulae have been added to the tables and, in particular, geometric Brownian motion is covered both in the theoretical and the formula part of the book.

Asymptotic Methods in Probability and Statistics

Asymptotic Methods in Probability and Statistics PDF Author: B. Szyszkowicz
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 008049952X
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 925

Book Description
One of the aims of the conference on which this book is based, was to provide a platform for the exchange of recent findings and new ideas inspired by the so-called Hungarian construction and other approximate methodologies. This volume of 55 papers is dedicated to Miklós Csörgő a co-founder of the Hungarian construction school by the invited speakers and contributors to ICAMPS'97.This excellent treatize reflects the many developments in this field, while pointing to new directions to be explored. An unequalled contribution to research in probability and statistics.

Power Laws

Power Laws PDF Author: Iddo Eliazar
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030332357
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 209

Book Description
This monograph is a comprehensive and cohesive exposition of power-law statistics. Following a bottom-up construction from a foundational bedrock – the power Poisson process – this monograph presents a unified study of an assortment of power-law statistics including: Pareto laws, Zipf laws, Weibull and Fréchet laws, power Lorenz curves, Lévy laws, power Newcomb-Benford laws, sub-diffusion and super-diffusion, and 1/f and flicker noises. The bedrock power Poisson process, as well as the assortment of power-law statistics, are investigated via diverse perspectives: structural, stochastic, fractal, dynamical, and socioeconomic. This monograph is poised to serve researchers and practitioners – from various fields of science and engineering – that are engaged in analyses of power-law statistics.

Measure-Valued Branching Markov Processes

Measure-Valued Branching Markov Processes PDF Author: Zenghu Li
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3662669102
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 481

Book Description
This book provides a compact introduction to the theory of measure-valued branching processes, immigration processes and Ornstein–Uhlenbeck type processes. Measure-valued branching processes arise as high density limits of branching particle systems. The first part of the book gives an analytic construction of a special class of such processes, the Dawson–Watanabe superprocesses, which includes the finite-dimensional continuous-state branching process as an example. Under natural assumptions, it is shown that the superprocesses have Borel right realizations. Transformations are then used to derive the existence and regularity of several different forms of the superprocesses. This technique simplifies the constructions and gives useful new perspectives. Martingale problems of superprocesses are discussed under Feller type assumptions. The second part investigates immigration structures associated with the measure-valued branching processes. The structures are formulated by skew convolution semigroups, which are characterized in terms of infinitely divisible probability entrance laws. A theory of stochastic equations for one-dimensional continuous-state branching processes with or without immigration is developed, which plays a key role in the construction of measure flows of those processes. The third part of the book studies a class of Ornstein-Uhlenbeck type processes in Hilbert spaces defined by generalized Mehler semigroups, which arise naturally in fluctuation limit theorems of the immigration superprocesses. This volume is aimed at researchers in measure-valued processes, branching processes, stochastic analysis, biological and genetic models, and graduate students in probability theory and stochastic processes.

Category : Differential equations, Partial
Languages : en
Pages : 152

Book Description
This volume contains translations of papers that originally appeared in the Japanese journal, Sugaku. Ordinarily the papers would appear in the AMS translation of that journal, but to expedite publication, the Society has chosen to publish them as a volume of selected papers. The papers range over a variety of topics, including nonlinear partial differential equations, $C*$-algebras, and Schrodinger operators. The volume is suitable for graduate students and research mathematicians interested in analysis and differential equations.
