Reaction Diffusion and Solid State Chemical Kinetics

Reaction Diffusion and Solid State Chemical Kinetics PDF Author: V.I. Dybkov
Publisher: Trans Tech Publications Ltd
ISBN: 3038134457
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 334

Book Description
Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters BCI (WoS). This monograph deals with a physico-chemical approach to the problem of the solid-state growth of chemical compound layers and reaction-diffusion in binary heterogeneous systems formed by two solids; as well as a solid with a liquid or a gas. It is explained why the number of compound layers growing at the interface between the original phases is usually much lower than the number of chemical compounds in the phase diagram of a given binary system. For example, of the eight intermetallic compounds which exist in the aluminium-zirconium binary system, only ZrAl3 was found to grow as a separate layer at the Al–Zr interface under isothermal conditions. The physico-chemical approach predicts that, in most cases, the number of compound layers should not exceed two; with the main factor, resulting in the appearance of additional layers, being crack formation due to thermal expansion and volume effects.

Kinetics in Nanoscale Materials

Kinetics in Nanoscale Materials PDF Author: King-Ning Tu
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118742834
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 350

Book Description
As the ability to produce nanomaterials advances, it becomes more important to understand how the energy of the atoms in these materials is affected by their reduced dimensions. Written by an acclaimed author team, Kinetics in Nanoscale Materials is the first book to discuss simple but effective models of the systems and processes that have recently been discovered. The text, for researchers and graduate students, combines the novelty of nanoscale processes and systems with the transparency of mathematical models and generality of basic ideas relating to nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0323984894
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 610

Book Description
The Metallurgy of Zinc Coated Steels provides a comprehensive overview of the science and engineering of zinc coatings. Beginning with a look at new innovations made in the hot-dip coating methods (CGL), the book goes on to discuss phase equilibria, Zn bath phenomena and overlay coating formations. Both processing methods and controls are covered, as well as corrosion resistance and coating product properties. The book concludes with a discussion of future opportunities for zinc coatings. This book is a vital resource for both individuals new to this area while also serving as a handbook for users and producers of zinc coatings. - Presents a basic understanding of the science and engineering behind zinc coatings with a thorough and cutting-edge look at their processing methods, controls, properties, and applications - Discusses corrosion resistance, overlay coating formation, heat treatment, interface reactions, deposition processes, and more - Covers real-world applications of these coatings

Growth of Crystals

Growth of Crystals PDF Author: E.I. Givargizov
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461505372
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 205

Book Description
Growth of Crystals, Volume 21 presents a survey, with detailed analysis, of the scientific and technological approaches, and results obtained, by leading Russian crystal growth specialists from the late 1990's to date. The volume contains 16 reviewed chapters on various aspects of crystal and crystalline film growth from various phases (vapour, solution, liquid and solid). Both fundamental aspects, e.g. growth kinetics and mechanisms, and applied aspects, e.g. preparation of technically important materials in single-crystalline forms, are covered. A large portion of the volume is devoted to film growth, including film growth from eutectic melt, from amorphous solid state, kinetics of lateral epitaxy and film growth on specially structured substrates. An important chapter in this section covers heteroepitaxy of non-isovalent A3B5 semiconductor compounds, which have important applications in the field of photonics. The volume also includes a detailed analysis of the structural aspects of a broad range of laser crystals, information that is invaluable for successfully growing perfect, laser-effective, single crystals.
