Book Description
Excerpt from Gross Yields for Even-Aged Stands of Douglas-Fir and White or Grand Fir East of the Cascades in Oregon and Washington Stem analyses of selected sample trees in temporary sample plots in even - aged stands were used to cal culate gross periodic annual incre ments. Volume and basal area of the sample plots at the time of sampling were regarded as net volume and net basal area. Multiple regression methods were used to relate net basal area to site index and age at feet. Then net volume and periodic annual increment were related to site index, age at feet, and net basal area. Gross volume yield was obtained as a cumulative summary of gross volume increment from a breast-high age of 20 years plus the net volume at this age. Book Description
Excerpt from Gross Yield and Mortality Tables for Fully Stocked Stands of Douglas-Fir, Vol. 14 Increasing interest in the practice of intensive forestry has demonstrated the need for gross yield tables for Douglas -fir showing the volume of trees that die as well as volume of live trees. Net yield tables for Douglas fir, published in l930, i/ give the live volume in fully stocked stands at different ages on different sites. As in all normal yield tables, no accounting is made of the volume of trees that die as stands grow older. Presented here are gross yield tables, which include net yield and estimated mortality volume. Mortality tables constructed in then-process of making the gross yield tables are also presented. Book Description
Excerpt from Yield, Stand and Volume Tables for Douglas Fir in California The growth of the species is shown by tables which state the yield of even-aged stands. Over a period of years. Age, timber productive quality of the area, and stand density are the most important growth determining factors of a stand. As there is no satisfactory way of expressing stand density in absolute terms, normal-yield tables based on the ideal density which. Produces maximum volume are presented.
