An Illustrated History of Athearn Advertising

An Illustrated History of Athearn Advertising PDF Author: Tim Blaisdell
Publisher: Page Publishing Inc
ISBN:
Category : Transportation
Languages : en
Pages : 294

Book Description
The production of Athearn Trains models has been very well-documented in several books over the years, even since its quite early days. In this work, the progression of the company's advertising is likewise well-documented. Since 1947, there have literally been thousands of pages of advertising presented to magazine readers. The Illustrated History of Athearn Advertising brings out the many styles of ads, the most colorful, and likely some of the best brought to the attention of model railroaders everywhere. This work is the result of years of scouring the many ads printed in many model railroading magazines since the founding of Athearn Trains. The selected pages of advertising shown in these pages share the many messages detailing the virtues of Athearn models and in many cases follows the pricing of their models over the years. The very first work documenting Athearn advertising from the very beginning through the company's seventieth anniversary, this book is a must-have for all model railroaders for deeper insight into the history of Athearn advertising, and the company itself.

Athearn Collector's Companion

Athearn Collector's Companion PDF Author: Tim Blaisdell
Publisher: Page Publishing Inc
ISBN:
Category : Crafts & Hobbies
Languages : en
Pages : 666

Book Description
Irvin R. Athearn was a pioneer in model trains beginning in the late 1940s. He started in his garage putting together O Gauge metal car kits then expanded them to include HO Scale kits. Around the mid-1950s, as a result of the purchase of Globe models, he began producing the iconic F-7 A and B Units in molded plastic. Soon after that came a whole line of plastic freight cars and locomotives. Our first book, The Standard Guide to Athearn Model Trains, documented the production of those models from the beginning of the plastic models through 1997. The Athearn Collector's Companion covers the original Guide, including models discovered since publication that book, plus all the kits produced until the end of production in October 2009. The original Guide contained approximately 4,000 entries; this book contains about 9,500. We believe you will enjoy the results of our labors as much as we have enjoyed documenting all these model kits...
