Book Description
Nanotechnology is an emerging field of science. It has increased applications in diverse area for the development of new materials at nanoscale levels. Synthesis of nanoparticles using biological methods is referred as greener synthesis of nanoparticles. Green synthesis provides advancement over chemical and physical method as it is cost effective, environment friendly, and safe for human therapeutic use. Stingless bees are highly social (eusocial) insects which populated the tropical earth 65 million years ago longer than honey bees. Among the most common uses of stingless bee honey are to treat stomach disturbance, cough, tonsillitis, sore throat, stomach and intestinal ulcers, cold, disease of the mouth, mucus membrane, and as a wound dressing due to its antimicrobial activity. Stingless bees honey were used to for the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles. Antimicrobial activity of the green synthesised nanoparticles were tested used agar diffusion method against Escherichia coli (E. coli), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The results showed that stingless bee honey could be effectively used for the synthesis of silver nanoparticle. The synthesized silver nanoparticles shows antibacterial activity on both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. This biosynthesis of nanoparticles is cost efficient, pollutant free and simpler to synthesize.

Book Description
Mirabilis jalapa is one of the medicinally important shrubs used in traditional medicine, belongs to the family Nyctaginaceae and commonly called as 4’O clock plant. M. jalapa plant extract contains biologically active substances that exhibit microbicidal or microstatic effects against various diseases causing microbes. The plant has high medicinal properties such that the indigenous people of Mexico use it to cure many infirmities including dysentery, diarrhoea, muscular pain and abdominal colic. It is used for the treatment of various infections. Parts of the plant are used to combat dyspepsia and other digestive disorders. The extract of yellow, red color flower variety and green leaf of M. jalapa can be used as natural food color instead of artificial color. The main advantage of using these plant extracts are they have high antimicrobial and have high antioxidant activity. It has the capacity to resist the bacteria like Bacillus, Salmonella, Klebsiella, E coli, Staphylococcus with the help of Silver nanoparticles. The plant has also proved to possess antibacterial, antiviral, and antioxidant activity. Nanoparticles are defined as particulate dispersions or solid particles with a size in the range of 10-1000nm. The drug is dissolved, entrapped, encapsulated or attached to a nanoparticle matrix. Depending upon the method of preparation, nanoparticles, nanospheres or nanocapsules can be obtained. Nanocapsules are systems in which the drug is confined to a cavity surrounded by a unique polymer membrane, while nanospheres are matrix systems in which the drug is physically and uniformly dispersed. Antioxidants are used as food additives to help guard against food deterioration. Exposure to oxygen and sunlight are the two main factors in the oxidation of food, so food is preserved by keeping in the dark and sealing it in containers or even coating it in wax, as with cucumbers. However, as oxygen is also important for plant respiration, storing plant materials in anaerobic conditions produces unpleasant flavours and unappealing colors. Consequently, packaging of fresh fruits and vegetables contains an ~8% oxygen atmosphere.

Book Description
Silver nanoparticles were synthesized through a green method, using Heterotheca inuloides as a bioreducing agent. Moreover, catgut suture threads were decorated with those biogenic silver nanoparticles, and their antibacterial activity versus highly resistant pathogenic microorganisms was evaluated. The principles of green chemistry and nanotechnology allow us to obtain advanced materials, such as suture threads, which can reduce or avoid the prevalence of infectious processes in the medical field. Mexican medicinal plants, such as H. inuloides, represent an adequate alternative for biosynthesis; this plant species is known for its medicinal benefits and its antibacterial activity, and for that reason, it is being used in folk medicine.

Book Description
Nanotechnology is an emerging field of science. It has increased applications in diverse area for the development of new materials at nanoscale levels. Synthesis of nanoparticles using biological methods is referred as greener synthesis of nanoparticles. Seed extracts of papaya (Carica papaya), Mullatha (Annona muricata), Passion fruit (Passiflora edulis), Eenth (Cycas circinalis), Egg fruit (Pouteria campechiana) are used for the synthesis of silver, copper, and zinc nanoparticles. These plants have medicinal as well as antibacterial activity. Nanoparticles prepared from these seed extracts have antibacterial activity. Synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by UV-VIS Spectrophotometry. Silver nanoparticles shows maximum peak at 385 nm. Copper nanoparticles shows maximum peak at 680 nm. Zinc nanoparticles shows maximum peak at 350 nm. Synthesized silver, copper and zinc nanoparticles shows antibacterial activity against Salmonella species, Pseudomonas species, Staphylococcus species, E. coli and Klebsiella species. Antimicrobial assay was performed by agar well diffusion method using Muller Hinton agar media. when antibacterial activity of silver, copper and zinc nanoparticles from 3 different concentrations were observed, nanoparticles have 60 µl concentration shows maximum activity against these microbes. Silver nanoparticles shows greater antibacterial activity compared to silver nitrate and seed extract. Copper nanoparticles shows greater antibacterial activity compared to copper Sulphate and seed extract. Zinc nanoparticles shows greater antibacterial activity compared to zinc Sulphate and seed extract. Maximum zone of inhibition was at 60 µl for all the bacterial cultures. This green synthesis method is alternative to chemical method, since it is cheap, pollutant free and eco-friendly.

The final products characteristics were studied – optical, structural, surface morphology and elemental analysis. Silver Nanoparticle has been recognized as a safe inorganic, antibacterial, nontoxic agent. Conventional synthesis of Silver Nanoparticle can generate toxic waste during the reaction process hence, this paper the green synthesis approach used and for synthesis of silver nanoparticle by using Datura metel leaf extract as a reducing agent. The change in colour of silver nitrate solution from colourless to brown was visual identification for formation of Silver Nanoparticle and shown the absorption at 447 nm. The synthesized Silver Nanoparticle were of size 180 nm analyse by SEM and further characetrised by FTIR where carboxylic peak was obtained at 1675 cm-1 as well as presence of alcoholic group and polyphenols. Further validated method was developed and linearity was found to be 0.995 and % RSD of validation parameters were found to be within the limit
