Good Advice for the Young

Good Advice for the Young PDF Author: John Palma
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1477173196
Category : Self-Help
Languages : en
Pages : 56

Book Description
I consider my book a very rare book due to its various contents of subjects. This book entails many useful real-life experiences. Although its contents are so broad yet they are so fruitful that they overshadow any in-depth individual subject in math, science, or history. Although its contents may be short, they are packed with such powerful tools of knowledge in preparation of a field of lifetime experiences to come. This preparation can touch your soul, your sprit, and your conscience to prepare yourself for an in-depth training of real-life problems and solutions. Now you have the proper road to take, so just follow its path. This book was written to specifically help the young in focusing more intricately on subjects that schools dont put enough emphasis on or give no interjection at all. These topics that I have written are in addition to your regular school subjects. It is to help you beware of lifes expectancies. There are only two topics I did not include in this book which are just as important, and they are sex education and self-defense. I feel the schools have come a long way with better sex education, but not with self-defense because this might cause problems in a regular school environment. Therefore, with all the topics I mentioned in this book and whatever advice I have given you, it is of utmost importance to do further research and to learn what you can. Im asking you to use this book as a personal guide in your life as I would have used it if it existed when I was younger.

The Defining Decade

The Defining Decade PDF Author: Meg Jay
Publisher: Twelve
ISBN: 0446575062
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 240

Book Description
The Defining Decade has changed the way millions of twentysomethings think about their twenties—and themselves. Revised and reissued for a new generation, let it change how you think about you and yours. Our "thirty-is-the-new-twenty" culture tells us the twentysomething years don't matter. Some say they are an extended adolescence. Others call them an emerging adulthood. In The Defining Decade, Meg Jay argues that twentysomethings have been caught in a swirl of hype and misinformation, much of which has trivialized the most transformative time of our lives. Drawing from more than two decades of work with thousands of clients and students, Jay weaves the latest science of the twentysomething years with behind-closed-doors stories from twentysomethings themselves. The result is a provocative read that provides the tools necessary to take the most of your twenties, and shows us how work, relationships, personality, identity and even the brain can change more during this decade than at any other time in adulthood—if we use the time well. Also included in this updated edition: Up-to-date research on work, love, the brain, friendship, technology, and fertility What a decade of device use has taught us about looking at friends—and looking for love—online 29 conversations to have with your partner—or to keep in mind as you search for one A social experiment in which "digital natives" go without their phones A Reader's Guide for book clubs, classrooms, or further self-reflection

ISBN: 0262250039
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 148

Book Description
An anecdotal guide for the perplexed new investigator as well as a refreshing resource for the old pro, covering everything from valuable personality traits for an investigator to social factors conducive to scientific work. Santiago Ramón y Cajal was a mythic figure in science. Hailed as the father of modern anatomy and neurobiology, he was largely responsible for the modern conception of the brain. His groundbreaking works were New Ideas on the Structure of the Nervous System and Histology of the Nervous System in Man and Vertebrates. In addition to leaving a legacy of unparalleled scientific research, Cajal sought to educate the novice scientist about how science was done and how he thought it should be done. This recently rediscovered classic, first published in 1897, is an anecdotal guide for the perplexed new investigator as well as a refreshing resource for the old pro. Cajal was a pragmatist, aware of the pitfalls of being too idealistic—and he had a sense of humor, particularly evident in his diagnoses of various stereotypes of eccentric scientists. The book covers everything from valuable personality traits for an investigator to social factors conducive to scientific work.

Advice to Young Artists in a Postmodern Era

Advice to Young Artists in a Postmodern Era PDF Author: William V. Dunning
Publisher: Syracuse University Press
ISBN: 9780815606307
Category : Art
Languages : en
Pages : 212

Book Description
Is art a matter of inspiration or of learning? Advice to Young Artists in a Postmodern Era, offers practical advice to the young artist about making the successful Dunning writes that in his years of teaching, he has heard students ask why no classes are ever offered to teach them what ingredients are helpful to the success of an artist: how to approach and deal with galleries and dealers; what to do about setting up their own studio and how to light it; and even how they should support themselves while they are attempting to do all this. Drawing on thirty-five years of experience as an artist and an art teacher, and those of several successful colleagues, the author follows the model of Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet and Hiram William's Notes for a Young Painter to compose this practical guide book. Advice to Young Artists is the only book of its kind geared to aspiring artists.

The Continual Condition

The Continual Condition PDF Author: Charles Bukowski
Publisher: Harper Collins
ISBN: 006177121X
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 146

Book Description
In the literary pantheon, Charles Bukowski remains a counterculture luminary. A hard-drinking wild man of literature and a stubborn outsider to the poetry world, he has struck a chord with generations of readers, writing raw, tough poetry about booze, work, and women in an authentic voice that is, like the work of the Beats, iconoclastic and even dangerous. Edited by his longtime publisher, John Martin, of Black Sparrow Press, and now in paperback, The Continual Condition includes more of this legend’s never-before-collected poems.
