Excerpt from Foreign Crops and Markets, Vol. 45: July 20, 1942 The official Canadian crop report released July 8, giving the condition of crops on June 30, showed average or better prospects for all grains. Wheat in particular was indicated to be excellent and consider ably above a year ago. The crop made unusually favorable progress during June. In the important wheat-producing Province of Saskatchewan the condition at the end of June was markedly improved compared with a month earlier and the condition on June 80 a year ago. In general, the spring wheat crop prospects in the Prairie Provinces showed the best June 30 condition since the bumper crops of 1927 and 1928. Feed grains, includ ing oats, barley, and rye, also showed excellent promise, both in eastern and western Canada, in contrast to last year's generally below-average condition.
