Cutter-Sanborn Three Figure Author Table

Cutter-Sanborn Three Figure Author Table PDF Author: M. P. Satija
Publisher: Ess Ess Publication
ISBN: 9789387698390
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 220

Book Description
It is a popular misconception that book numbers have only a subsidiary role in library classification. The fact of the matter is that book numbers are indispensable for a fine, precise and overall logical arrangement of documents on the library shelves. The function of the book numbers begins from that of the class numbers ends. The present book has a twofold task. First, it provides an authentic version of the Cutter-Sanborn three-figure table as in India many unauthorized versions of doubtful pedigree are being used. As well known, and often rued, these tables are not entirely suitable for Indian names as these were designed for American and European authors. To mitigate the problem the table has been supplemented with Indian names added at their alphabetical place for ready use .This extended table has approximately 15850 entries (original table has only 12361). It is a time saver. Some new Western names have also been added to facilitate the Indian librarians. But the more important purpose is to provide a manual for the use of cutter tables and to prepare shelf lists or to craft unique book numbers for various categories of Indian publications and subjects, especially

Camp Like a Girl

Camp Like a Girl PDF Author: Sara Riley Mattson
Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
ISBN: 9781535200547
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 116

Book Description
In this humorous memoir and technical guide, Sara Riley Mattson shares the story of converting her cargo van into a mold-resistant camper in order to pursue a full recovery from mold toxicity and biotoxin illness. Along the way, she charms with her intimate writing style and dedication to helping others live well, be healthy, and explore our beautiful world. Excerpt: I also needed to feel safe, and I didn't feel safe at all in a home made from drywall and particle board cabinetry. With the exception of high-quality hardwood, whenever I looked at the way houses were made now, it was like looking at mold restaurants. "Welcome to our new restaurant, Mr. and Mrs. Mold. On the menu tonight we have some damp drywall, a nice assortment of ply woods and particle boards, and some fantastic dusts we have been letting age in the duct work. If you'd like to stay for a while, we have some special dust-filled insulation and carpet I think you will find quite cozy. Oh, and of course, for the benefit of any little mold children that might come along, we have the full assortment of anti-fungal paint and fungicide-resistant genes already in full complement in our facilities. All mold offspring from this establishment have shown full resistance to these rather pitiful human attempts to control our numbers."

Twentieth-Century Building Materials

Twentieth-Century Building Materials PDF Author: Thomas C. Jester
Publisher: Getty Publications
ISBN: 1606063251
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 354

Book Description
Over the concluding decades of the twentieth century, the historic preservation community increasingly turned its attention to modern buildings, including bungalows from the 1930s, gas stations and diners from the 1940s, and office buildings and architectural homes from the 1950s. Conservation efforts, however, were often hampered by a lack of technical information about the products used in these structures, and to fill this gap Twentieth-Century Building Materials was developed by the U.S. Department of the Interior’s National Park Service and first published in 1995. Now, this invaluable guide is being reissued—with a new preface by the book’s original editor. With more than 250 illustrations, including a full-color photographic essay, the volume remains an indispensable reference on the history and conservation of modern building materials. Thirty-seven essays written by leading experts offer insights into the history, manufacturing processes, and uses of a wide range of materials, including glass block, aluminum, plywood, linoleum, and gypsum board. Readers will also learn about how these materials perform over time and discover valuable conservation and repair techniques. Bibliographies and sources for further research complete the volume. The book is intended for a wide range of conservation professionals including architects, engineers, conservators, and material scientists engaged in the conservation of modern buildings, as well as scholars in related disciplines.
