This issue of Matatu offers cutting-edge studies of contemporary Nigerian literature, a selection of short fiction and poetry, and a range of essays on various themes of political, artistic, socio-linguistic, and sociological interest. Contributions on theatre focus on the fool as dramatic character and on the feminist theatre of exclusion (Tracie Uto-Ezeajugh). This book examines the role of the legislature in the democratic governance of Nigeria. There are a large number of Orisha and each Orisha has its own Awo. In order to do this Ògún must sacrifice all that stands in the way of spiritual evolution. Because of these sacred responsibility Ògún is considered the Guardian of Truth. Ògún does not protect the truth of what we would like to be, he guards the truth of what is. It is the process of making this distinction that lies at the core of Ògún's mystery.
