Excerpt from First Annual Report of the State Board of Medical Registration and Examination of Ohio, 1896 In accordance with your directions the Board met in Columbus, March 24th, 1896, and organized. Steps were immedi ately taken to procure an otfice with the proper equipments; such as furniture, engraved plates, registers, books, blanks, records, stationery and all other things which were absolutely essential for the transaction of the business set forth in the law passed Febru ary 27th, 1896, for the purpose of regulating the practice of medi cine in this State. It was deemed necessary to have the plates for printing the certificates engraved upon steel. The registers and records had to be constructed in accordance with the law; it requiring considerable time for their preparation, some delay occurred hofo1e it was possible for the Board to commence the issuing of certificates.
