Book Description
Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 202: May 1960 Output of food fats during april-september, the second half of the 1959-60 season, will decline seasonally but is expected to be about the same as last year. An increase over last year for cottonseed Oil and a slight increase for butter will make up for the decline in lard. Little change is expected in soybean oil production. During the first half of the current marketing year, production of food fats was 9 percent greater than a year earlier. The gain mainly reflected sharp increases in cottonseed Oil and lard. Domestic disappearance of food fats during the first 6 months of the present marketing year was at a record level, and about 1 percent above a year ago. Increases for margarine and shortening slightly more than Offset de clines in butter, direct use of lard and salad and cooking Oils. As usual, domestic use of food fats will decline seasonally during april-september, but probably will not differ much from last year's level. Book Description
Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation: Sept 26, P. M. 1956 The total supply of food fats and oils in the marketing year beginning October 1, 1956 will be about as large as in 1955-56. Smaller supplies of cottonseed oil, lard and butter will be offset by increased output of soybean oil. Cottonseed oil production will be down due to a 10 percent reduction in the 1956 cotton crop and lard output is expected to fall considerably because of a probable drop of around 10 percent below last year in hog slaughter. Book Description
Excerpt from Fats and Oils Situation: May 1963 Supply, domestic disappearance, and exports of food fats and oils during the first half of the current marketing year (begun October 1, 1962) were higher than in the same period of 1961-62. Nevertheless, stocks of food fats (excluding soybeans but including finished products) continue large; on April 1, 1963, they were 12 percent higher than on the same date last year but 85 percent above the 1957-61 average, reflecting the heavy inventories of edible vegetable oils, butter, and lard. Prospects for the second half of the 1962-63 marketing year are for normal seasonal declines in output and domestic disappearance, though running above year-earlier levels. Prospects for exports of fats and oils and for soybeans during the second half of 1962-63 are strong. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
Excerpt from Fats and Oils Situation U.s. Soybean stocks on April 1 totaled billion bushels, compared with billion a year ago. About half were stored on farms. This represents a 46-percent increase in farm stocks. Acreage of the five major u.s. Oilseed crops in 1980 will total about 93 million, compared with million planted in 1979. A prospective drop in sunflower acreage will more than offset increased cotton plantings. Peanut, flaxseed, and soybean acreages are expected to be down slightly from the 1979 level. If the growing, season is normal, oilseed supplies likely will be record large, boosted by the heavy carryover of soybeans, sun owers, and cottonseed into the fall.
