Book Description
The Family Readiness Group (FRG) provides an avenue of mutual support and assistance and a network of communication among family members, the chain of command, and community resources. The primary purpose of any FRG is to encourage self-sufficiency among its members by providing information, referral assistance, and mutual support.Family readiness initiatives are designed to assist Army families during periods of deployment or emergency and provide a means of information flow between the military (Rear D) and family members. During periods of non-deployment, FRG activities are directed at developing a sense of community among families in partnership with their unit. Knowing family members will have the collective support of unit FRGs and the Rear D command group allows Soldiers and leaders to focus on mission requirements.

Kevlar Legions: The Transformation of the United States Army 1989-2005

Kevlar Legions: The Transformation of the United States Army 1989-2005 PDF Author: John Sloan Brown
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1300079541
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 562

Book Description
This is the story of how the United States Army responded to the challenges of the end of the Cold War by transforming itself into the most capable ground force in the world today. It argues that from 1989 through 2005 the U.S. Army attempted, and largely achieved, a centrally directed and institutionally driven transformation relevant to ground warfare that exploited Information Age technology, adapted to post?Cold War strategic circumstances, and integrated into parallel Department of Defense efforts. The process not only modernized equipment, it also substantially altered doctrine, organization, training, administrative and logistical practices, and the service culture. Kevlar Legions further contends that the digitized expeditionary Army has withstood the test of combat, performing superbly with respect to deployment and high-end conventional combat and capably with respect to low-intensity conflict and the counterinsurgency challenges of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Family Support Group (FSG) Leaders' Handbook

The Family Support Group (FSG) Leaders' Handbook PDF Author:
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Deployment (Strategy)
Languages : en
Pages : 82

Book Description
This report helps Army Family Support Group (FSG) leaders - particularly in rapid deployment units - start and operate FSGs, by providing them the best information from Army research, family support professionals, and experienced FSG leaders. Although expert judgment has been exercised in the selection and presentation of available materials, the ideas here are only suggested courses of action. Individual FSGs are quite different from one another, and most of these ideas have not been subjected to rigorous evaluations. The topics covered include (1) what FSGs are expected to accomplish, (2) suggestions for starting (or re-energizing) an FSG, (3) relevant Army Regulations, and (4) sources of additional help in operating the FSG or for assisting FSG members.
