Experimental Evaluation of a Pump Test Facility with Controlled Perturbations of Inlet Flow
Author: William Stevans
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Perturbation (Mathematics)
Languages : en
Pages : 60
Book Description
A pump test facility to experimentally investigate the relations governing the operationof a pump under periodic fluctuations of inlet pressure and flow is described. The perturbed flow entering the pump is determined by using the acoustical wave equation and accounting for the mototion of the test facility. The perturbed flow leaving the pump is determined by using a specially designed multihole orifice plate. The difference between the perturbed flows entering and leaving the pump was identified to be a compliance flow due to the compliance of the pump structure and the water it contained. Data establishing the validity of the measurement methods are presented.
