Se reconoce que las poblaciones humanas proporcionan la información más relevante sobre efectos de la contaminación en la salud; es por ello que el desarrollo de estudios epidemiológicos brindan las evidencias necesarias en poblaciones humanas bajo condiciones del mundo real. En este marco, el libro presenta el diseño, la elaboración, el desarrollo y los resultados de un estudio epidemiológico observacional realizado en la localidad de Ezpeleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina con el fin de evaluar el riesgo en la salud, relacionado con la presencia de Campos Electromagnéticos de Frecuencia Extremadamente Baja (CEM-REM) en el ambiente.Si bien las evidencias del estudio permiten inferir que no existe una relación directa entre la presencia de fuentes de CEM- REM y la manifestación de problemas de salud en la población cercana a ellas, se debe resaltar que en las condiciones de desarrollo de la ciencia epidemiológica actual el "riesgo cero" es prácticamente imposible de alcanzar. La ciencia informa sobre sus resultados "aquí y ahora" hasta tanto nuevas investigaciones o nuevas metodologías o paradigmas demuestren lo contrario. Por tanto, el libro intenta contribuir en este sentido.
