Domestic Microgeneration

Domestic Microgeneration PDF Author: Iain Staffell
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1317448855
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 371

Book Description
Microgeneration – producing energy for the home, in the home – is a substantial improvement over the current centralised and detached energy model employed the world over. Domestic Microgeneration is the first in-depth reference work for this exciting and emerging field of energy generation. It provides detailed reviews of ten state-of-the-art technologies: including solar PV and thermal, micro-CHP and heat pumps; and considers them within the wider context of the home in which they are installed and the way that they are operated. Alongside the many successes, this book highlights the common pitfalls that beset the industry. It offers best-practice guidance on how they can be avoided by considering the complex linkages between technology, user, installer and government. This interdisciplinary work draws together the social, economic, political and environmental aspects of this very diverse energy ‘genre’ into a single must-have reference for academics and students of sustainability and energy related subjects, industry professionals, policy makers and the growing number of energy-literate householders who are looking for ways to minimise their environmental footprint and their energy bills with microgeneration.

Microgeneration

Microgeneration PDF Author: Dave Parker
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080942296
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 223

Book Description
Spiraling fuel costs, frequent power cuts, "energy wars with fuel-rich countries holding consumers to ransom--these are just some of the issues that are helping to ensure that microgeneration of power, at the individual building level, is becoming a more and more attractive option to grid power. In this book author Dave Parker describes the many and varied microgeneration options, from wind turbines and solar power to biomass and heatsinks, and even gives advice on how architects and developers can best access the increasingly large amount of government funding to help implement these strategies. This book can help those in the building and construction industry to really make a difference in the fight against climate change, by explaining how to utilize the technology already within our reach. - Comprehensive review of the latest technology available - Shows how to assess/compare/combine the merits of the available systems - Gives hard information on how to adopt appropriate microgeneration technology for a specific project

Energy Efficiency and Fuel Poverty

Book Description
The Committee decided to examine the UK Energy Efficiency Action Plan with particular reference to Defra's efforts to improve households' energy efficiency and its statutory duty under the Warm Homes and Energy Conservation Act 2008 to ensure that people in England do not live in fuel poverty after November 2016. The Committee had received many responses to its call for evidence, but on 3 October 2008 the Prime Minister announced the creation of a new Government department, the Department of Energy and Climate Change. The responsibility for fuel poverty was passed from Defra to the new Department. The Committee decided not to proceed with its inquiry, but has decided to publish the written evidence it received on this subject. The Committee recommends that the new select committee set up to examine the expenditure, policy and administration of the new Department of Energy and Climate Change seriously consider holding an inquiry into fuel poverty at the earliest opportunity.

Energy Efficiency Governance

Energy Efficiency Governance PDF Author: Dagmar Sibyl Steuwer
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3658006811
Category : Social Science

Pages : 395

Book Description
Energy efficiency contributes to the main objectives of energy policy in the European Union: energy security, cost effectiveness and environmental benefits. However, the efficiency potential remains widely untapped. Will White Certificate Instruments, a new framework instrument to foster end-use energy efficiency, help to close the energy efficiency gap? The analysis compares the political process of choosing and designing White Certificate Instruments in Italy, France and Great Britain. The book shows that the type of policy instrument as well as its image has an influence not only on agenda-setting but also on the policy instrument’s effectiveness due to interactions with existing energy efficiency discourses, regulatory traditions and the prevailing policy style.
