Book Description
Excerpt from Effects of a High Density of Blacklight Traps on Corn Earworm Population in Corn The purpose of our study was to determine what effect a rather dense installation of blacklight traps might have on corn earworm populations in a semi-isolated cornfield. Effect of Light Traps on Hornworm Populations in Large Areas (Classic Reprint)
Author: U. S. Department Of Agriculture
Publisher: Forgotten Books
ISBN: 9781527834569
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 28
Book Description
Excerpt from Effect of Light Traps on Hornworm Populations in Large Areas The influence or migrant moths moving into the trapped area in obscuring the total effect Of the trapping operations cannot be fully assessed on the asis of data now available. The data suggest, however, that some additional reduction in hornworm moth populations above that achieved in this experiment could be expected, if traps of a like density were Operating in an area of sufficient size to eliminate the influence of migrant moths. To appraise the significance of moth migration, it will be necessary to conduct experiments in larger areas or on the total population in an isolated situation such as an island.
