Eat It Anyway
Author: Eve Simmons and Laura Dennison
Publisher: Hachette UK
ISBN: 1784725935
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 347
Book Description
'One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.' - Virginia Woolf. The definition of 'healthy eating' has been chewed up, spat out and re-digested enough times to make Joe Public give up and seek out their nearest branch of McDonald's. Our mindless obsession with eating 'right' is such that we're now more concerned about what our Instagram followers think of a poorly lit picture of our dinner than we are of its effect on our own palate. Or, indeed, our happiness. We seem to be living in a time where we no longer eat with our hearts, emotions or heritage - but with what our waistlines (and followers) in mind. Not Plant Based are on a mission to help you love food again. The principle is very simple: eat what you like and don't worry about it. It's a menu that's especially delicious, 'guilt-free' and requires a hell of a lot less money spent in health food shops. Throughout the book, Laura and Eve call on experts to debunk myths and provide a balanced exploration of our attitude towards food, with some delicious recipes thrown in along the way. They discuss their own experiences of eating disorders and offer personal tips and coping mechanisms to help rid you of anxiety linked to food. No one is saying healthy eating is bad; there is simply a lot of misleading information out there. More to the point, food is so much more in the grand scheme of life than health: it's family, friends, enjoyment and memories. So go on, take a bite out of Eat It Anyway and learn to love your food all over again. It's SO mouth-wateringly good - we bet you'll be back for seconds. **PRAISE FOR EAT IT ANYWAY** 'Learn to love food again with this book, which sorts nutritional nonsense from sensible science' - Woman's Weekly

Eat Beat Sleep Repeat
Author: Amos O'Henry
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781649696908
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 438
Book Description
This book describes my life and experiences as a Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) worker in the oil and gas industry, from trainee to fifteen-year veteran. My career - so far - has included stints on four offshore facilities and one major onshore LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) project. I currently work on the World's largest floating object which I helped build in South Korea over a three year period. These experiences have been unique in many ways, but are conveyed in a very human way; I was not interested in writing a technical book, a history of the industry, or an environmental tome of monumental importance. This is just a story of my life as a FIFO worker during one of the busiest and most interesting times in the industry, particularly Australia. For example, my current facility was the first floating LNG plant ever designed, and is a game changer for the industry, but the process is described in laymen's terms, easy to understand. We have also seen major upheaval caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; border restrictions, enforced separation and isolation, falls in oil prices and increased Unionism. In short, this is a description of a unique way of working and living. It involves a cast of hundreds of characters, places and events, most of them amusing, some of them sad or possibly even exciting, a lot of them are things that are small in their own way but have never been presented in a book, with the possible exception of "Don't Tell Mum I Work on the Rigs, She Thinks I'm a Piano Player in a Whorehouse ". It is what we do on a day-to-day basis when we are at work, and I believe that a large amount of "normal" people are very interested in this lifestyle, apart from the 150,000 plus FIFO workers based in Australia, Canada and elsewhere. It also openly and honestly describes my descent into depression, sometimes so bad I wanted to suicide. FIFO can be hard. FIFO is a different life altogether, it comes with its own issues and problems, from distances travelled, the method of getting there, fatigue, dangerous conditions, depression, anxiety, separation from family and The World, huge relationship hurdles, as well as the concept of being trapped by the lifestyle and the large salaries, the Golden Handcuffs as we call it. In fact, this book is a study of Australian working culture in many ways with all its blemishes. The lifestyle is not for everyone, especially offshore, and many people have crashed and burned in the time I have been in the job. We do a minimum of 12 hour days, 7 days a week, up to 28 days straight, sometimes longer when storms hit or choppers fail. At the same time a lot of us get paid well and we get decent breaks where we spend that money we earn. And we work with some of the best people on the planet, even if the Companies and their management structures leave a lot to be desired. I hope you enjoy it and find it interesting.

Eat & Beat Diabetes with Picture Perfect Weight Loss
Author: Howard M. Shapiro
Publisher: Harlequin
ISBN: 1426854900
Category : Health & Fitness
Languages : en
Pages : 321
Book Description
Beat diabetes and lose weight! Ask any doctor or nutritionist who treats patients with diabetes: the first focus for controlling the disease is a healthy eating plan. But typical diabetic eating plans have been all about what you can't eat and what to do if you fall prey to a craving for foods you shouldn't have. But now a typical day in the life of a diabetic might start with a smoked salmon-and-dill omelet, continue to a lunch of three-bean chili, salsa and guacamole, and finish with a dinner of grilled shrimp and shaved fennel, topped off by a dessert of chocolate terrine. It's a kind of eating that virtually guarantees not just control of the disease and a satisfying of the appetite, but an emphasis on specific nutrients that actually target diabetes, beating back its potential side effects and maintaining the healthy weight that is key to controlling the disease. In Eat & Beat Diabetes with Picture Perfect Weight Loss, Dr. Howard Shapiro uses the same visual method of food comparisons that made his bestselling weight-loss books so popular and easy to use. Now he has teamed with top chef Franklin Becker, a diabetic himself, and together they reveal the secrets to a diet that can actually help you prevent and beat diabetes—without depriving yourself of delicious food.
