Infrared and Millimeter Waves V9

Infrared and Millimeter Waves V9 PDF Author: Kenneth J. Button
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0323153992
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 363

Book Description
Infrared and Millimeter Waves, Volume 9: Millimeter Components and Techniques, Part I compiles the work of several authors while focusing on certain aspects of infrared and millimeter waves, such as sources of radiation, instrumentation, and millimeter systems. This volume deals with millimeter components and techniques. Chapter 1 covers millimeter wave communications, and then the succeeding chapter discusses a comparative study of millimeter waves and transmission lines. This book then tackles dielectric waveguide electrooptic devices, as well as millimeter-wave propagation and remote sensing of the atmosphere, which are covered in Chapter 4. The fifth chapter presents the technology of large radio telescopes for millimeter and submillimeter. The next chapter explains a gyrotron study program, and the last chapter discusses multimode analysis of quasi-optical gyrotrons and gyroklystrons. This book will be of great use for researchers or professionals whose work involves infrared and millimeter waves.

Electromagnetic Fields and Waves

Electromagnetic Fields and Waves PDF Author: Eugene I. Nefyodov
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319908472
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 329

Book Description
This textbook is intended for a course in electromagnetism for upper undergraduate and graduate students. The main concepts and laws of classical macroscopic electrodynamics and initial information about generalized laws of modern electromagnetics are discussed, explaining some paradoxes of the modern theory. The reader then gets acquainted with electrodynamics methods of field analysis on the basis of wave equation solution. Emission physics are considered using an example of the Huygens-Fresnel-Kirchhoff canonic principle. The representation about strict electrodynamics task statement on the base of Maxwell equations, boundary conditions, emission conditions and the condition on the edge is given. Different classes of approximate boundary conditions are presented, which essentially simplify understanding of process physics. The canonic Fresnel functions are given and their generalization on the case of anisotropic impedance. The free waves in closed waveguides and in strip-slotted and edge-dielectric transmission lines are described. A large number of Mathcad programs for illustration of field patterns and its properties in different guiding structures are provided. The material is organized for self-study as well as classroom use.

Site Diversity in Satellite Communications

Site Diversity in Satellite Communications PDF Author: Arsim Kelmendi
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031262743
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 128

Book Description
This book describes multi-site diversity modelling of induced rain attenuation statistics for satellite communication systems using copula functions. It gathers all relevant state-of-the-art knowledge, provides the missing pieces and rounds them up in a way that the reader is given a complete picture of important modelling factors and ways to address them. The books’ main features include: Data post-processing methodology for statistical analysis based on our Earth-satellite propagation experiments. Two novel multi-site diversity prediction models based on Gaussian copula considering distance between stations or considering distance, baseline, and elevation angle. Two novel multi-site diversity prediction models based on hyperbolic cosecant copula considering distance between stations or considering distance, baseline, and elevation angle. Exhaustive comparative tests and error performance of the prediction models showing that improved error performance is achieved compared to the ITU R model and to the state-of-the-art models. The results presented in the book are expected to contribute to the improvement of the system design and to the further research of modelling the next generation satellite links at higher frequencies.
