Powder Metallurgy of Superalloys

Powder Metallurgy of Superalloys PDF Author: G. H. Gessinger
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 148319244X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 363

Book Description
Powder Metallurgy of Superalloys details the advancement of powder metallurgy in the context of producing superalloys. The book is comprised of nine chapters that cover the underlying principles of superalloys produced through powder metallurgy. The text first covers concerns in pre-alloyed dispersion-free powders, such as powder production and characterization; powder consolidation methods; and quality control and non-destructive evaluation of P/M superalloys. The next chapter talks about oxide-dispersion-strengthened superalloys. Next, the book discusses joining techniques for P/M superalloys and the practical applications of P/M superalloys. The title will be of great use to professionals in the materials manufacturing industry.

Powder Metallurgy Superalloys for Gas Turbine Engines

Powder Metallurgy Superalloys for Gas Turbine Engines PDF Author: Charles S. Kortovich

Languages : en
Pages : 75

Book Description
A program was conducted to develop powder metallurgy techniques for the optimization of alloys for gas turbine blades. A unique process was used consisting of blending metastable carbides and Y2O3 with carbon free base alloy MAR-M-246 by attrition and consolidating this blend by hot extrusion. This was followed by heat treatments designed to solution the metastable carbides and to grow either a minimum ASTM No. 2-3 grain size or a columnar grain size followed by precipitation of discrete particle grain boundary carbides during aging heat treatments. Mechanical property results indicated that while the 1400F tensile properties of the powder metallurgy alloys developed in the program were comparable to those for cast MAR-M-246, the 1900F/15 ksi stress rupture properties were substantially below those for the cast alloy. Hot corrosion results indicated that while the poor resistance of base alloy MAR-M-246 was improved by the addition of Y2O3 dispersoid, its resistance was still not comparable to other cast nickel-base superalloys. Forging Equipment, Materials, and Practices

Forging Equipment, Materials, and Practices PDF Author: Taylan Altan
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Blacksmithing
Languages : en
Pages : 512

Book Description
The handbook provides design engineers with up-to-date information about the many aspects of forging including descriptions of important developments made more recently by industry and/or government. The handbook describes suitable measures for in-process quality control and quality assurance, summarizes relationships between forging practices and important mechanical properties and compares various forging devices to aid in equipment selection. Attention is also given to describing practices for relatively new materials and emerging forging practices. (Modified author abstract).
