Data centre opportunities in the Nordics PDF Author: Christensen, Jakob Dybdal
Publisher: Nordic Council of Ministers
ISBN: 9289358998
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 51

Book Description
The Nordic region attracts an increasing level of significant investments in new data centres. This seems to be no coincidence as the Nordics scores comparatively higher on factors such as "Reliable power supply", "Low energy prices", "Political stability", "Faster time-to-market" and "Abundance of energy and other resources" compared to more traditional European data centre regions. All factors that are deemed most important by data centre investors. This report estimates that the Nordics by 2025 could attract annual data centre construction investments in the order of EUR 2-4.3 bn. by 2025. This is based on the forecast of the future demand worldwide for data centre services – as well as the strong value proposition of the Nordic countries towards large datacenter investments.

Data Centre Essentials

Data Centre Essentials PDF Author: Vincent Fogarty
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1119898811
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 245

Book Description
Data Centre Essentials Understand the design, construction and operation of data centres with this easy-to-use reference Data centres are spaces where computer systems, physical network technology and associated components are housed, operated and monitored, and any industry or business that employs computer systems or networked systems at any scale will interact with data centres. Data centres are complex and expensive to build and operate, and successful project delivery requires a wide range of specialised knowledge and skills. This accessible reference lays out the requirements for creating these essential facilities. Data Centre Essentials is a comprehensive survey of the essential principles of data centre design, construction and operation. It is designed to provide those involved in a data centre project or providing professional service deliverables to the data centre industry but do not have a technical background or deep sector experience with the understanding required to participate in such projects. The non-technical language and thorough engagement with key considerations make it ideal for anyone looking to understand one of the pillars of a digital society. Data Centre Essentials readers will also find: An authorial team with decades of combined experience in engineering and construction consultancy Detailed information about every stage in the process, including securing investment and the building process Working lexicon of key data centre terminology Data Centre Essentials is a must-own for contractors, engineers and construction project managers involved in data centre projects and will be invaluable for professionals such as lawyers, financial and insurance advisors, surveyors, engineers and architects who do not necessarily have deep domain experience but find themselves involved in or are interested in engaging in, data centre projects.

Non-standard work in the Nordics: Troubled waters under the still surface

Non-standard work in the Nordics: Troubled waters under the still surface PDF Author: Ilsøe, Anna
Publisher: Nordic Council of Ministers
ISBN: 9289369159
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 251

Book Description
Available online: https://pub.norden.org/temanord2021-503/ Most Nordic labour market and welfare state models are shaped around the notion of the standard full-time open-ended contract. However, the recent development in non-standard work (NSW) may challenge these institutions. In this TemaNord report, we analyse the recent development of NSW within the context of the Nordic models. We draw on Nordic Labour Force Survey data to map the recent development in the well-known forms of NSW, and through in-depth case studies, we explore emerging NSW practices and policy responses. There has been a fairly stable development in NSW across the Nordics, but the sector specific statistics and case studies display significant changes beneath this still surface. We find examples of novel policy responses to these developments, but the corona crisis also revealed gaps in the Nordic social- and employment protection regarding emerging forms of NSW.

Book Description
Available online: https://pub.norden.org/temanord2022-524/ The overall aim of this project is to promote the Nordic countries as a forerunner region in demanding and using sustainable design of batteries for consumer electronics and the transport sector, and to identify key opportunities, barriers and challenges in the transition towards a more sustainable use of battery technologies. The aesthetics of the design should meet with the overall sustainability: high quality, durability and smart assembly for refurbishing. The project is funded by the Nordic Working Group for Circular Economy (NCE) under the Nordic Council of Ministers. The project has been carried out by Viegand Maagøe A/S (Denmark) and IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute (Sweden) in the period 20 October 2020 to 31 December 2021.A reference group with representatives from the Nordics has been established, who provided valuable input to the study.

Design and the Built Environment of the Arctic

Design and the Built Environment of the Arctic PDF Author: Leena Cho
Publisher: Taylor & Francis
ISBN: 1003828787
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 319

Book Description
Design and the Built Environment of the Arctic is a concise introductory guide to the design and planning of the built environments in the Arctic region. As the global forces of change are becoming more pronounced in the Arctic, the future trajectories for living environments, city-making processes, and their adaptive capacities need to be addressed directly. This book presents 11 new and original contributions from both leading and emerging scholars and practitioners, positioning the Arctic as a dynamic, diverse, and lived place at the nexus of unprecedented socioenvironmental transformations. The volume offers key concepts for understanding and spatializing Arctic cities and landscapes; similarities and differences in the development of design and planning approaches responsive to specific climatic and cultural conditions; and historical and geographic case studies that provide unique perspectives for the management of the built environment, from the scales of a building and infrastructure to cities and territories. Altogether, the contributions expand regional Arctic design scholarship to understand how the variability of the Arctic context influences the designed urban, architecture, and landscape systems, and offer numerous lessons for design and other forms of spatial practice both within and beyond the Arctic. This is a unique resource for researchers, creative practitioners, policymakers, and community decision-makers, as well as for advanced undergraduate and graduate students.

The project has produced information on the best practices and put together a situational picture on the evaluation of the impacts of youth organisation activities in different Nordic countries. The best practices will provide good suggestions for youth organisations on how to improve the quality of their activities, while a broader situational picture will create added value especially for public administration.
