Corpos, territórios e feminismos busca reconhecer o protagonismo daquelas que sempre lutaram pela vida. Dividido em três partes, começa apresentando perspectivas político-teóricas para a compreensão das lutas populares de Abya Yala, com destaque para a ideia de (re)patriarcalização dos territórios , um processo desencadeado por projetos neoextrativistas que reconfigura, nos territórios, uma nova ordem patriarcal, aprofundando e reatualizando relações machistas preexistentes. Outro conceito que figura nessa seção é a geopolítica do útero, desenvolvida a partir da resistência das mulheres Épera, que fazem da reprodução uma trincheira contra a morte lenta e coletiva de seu povo. Na segunda parte, Corpos, territórios e feminismos expõe propostas e aplicações metodológicas para o trabalho de politização em coletivos de mulheres. São narradas, entre outras, as experiências do Teatro das Oprimidas praticado pelo coletivo Magdalenas, no Uruguai, por meio do qual as militantes foram se descobrindo alvo de uma série de violências; e o trabalho do Colectivo de Geografía Crítica de Ecuador, que mapeou feminicídios com base em notícias veiculadas na imprensa do país. Por fim, a terceira parte do livro oferece cinco diálogos para discutir conceitos e realidades da luta das mulheres em defesa dos territórios na América Latina. Um dos textos coloca em xeque o conceito de Pacha Mama, largamente adotado por movimentos sociais, ecologistas e indígenas, questionando o motivo que levou — e continua levando — à atribuição de um "gênero" à terra e à natureza. Outro ponto de debate é o "patriarcado ancestral", ou seja, a existência, entre os povos indígenas, de uma cultura machista anterior à colonização, com valores que não eram iguais aos impostos pelos europeus, mas que, ainda assim, e de formas totalmente outras, oprimiam as mulheres. Com um pé na academia e outro na militância, Corpos, territórios e feminismos pretende nomear as sujeitas invisibilizadas pela história imposta pelos vencedores — quase todos homens, heterossexuais, brancos, ocidentais e burgueses. Para povos originários, comunidades subalternas e coletivos periféricos, a defesa do território sempre existiu — é um processo de vida em devir e com memória ancestral. Amid controversies surrounding the team mascot and brand of the Washington Redskins in the National Football League and the use of mascots by K–12 schools, Americans demonstrate an expanding sensitivity to the pejorative use of references to Native Americans by sports organizations at all levels. In Indian Spectacle, Jennifer Guiliano exposes the anxiety of American middle-class masculinity in relation to the growing commercialization of collegiate sports and the indiscriminate use of Indian identity as mascots. Indian Spectacle explores the ways in which white, middle-class Americans have consumed narratives of masculinity, race, and collegiate athletics through the lens of Indian-themed athletic identities, mascots, and music. Drawing on a cross-section of American institutions of higher education, Guiliano investigates the role of sports mascots in the big business of twentieth-century American college football in order to connect mascotry to expressions of community identity, individual belonging, stereotyped imagery, and cultural hegemony.
