Exclusive Economic Zone and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, 1982-2000

Exclusive Economic Zone and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, 1982-2000 PDF Author: Erik Franckx
Publisher: Emile Bruylant
ISBN:
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 288

Book Description
The importance of the law of the sea has become self-evident in the light of current issues such as overexploitation of fisheries resources, oil sticks and unseaworthy ships. Since the establishment of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) by the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, coastal States have enjoyed important rights over this maritime zone, which extends 200 nautical miles from the coastline. This book takes stock of how practice has developed with respect to the EEZ some 20 years after the signature of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, on the basis of State practice and also the practice of international organizations and NGOs.
